As far as you guys talking about a bounce back, the starting RG is out for the year so the right side will go from below average-bad to really bad. Loadholt has regressed all year. The safeties and non-Winfield CB's are still terrible. Will be interesting to see how the Favre situation is handled. Leslie might not think as much of Tarvaris and Chilly did.

Chilly just got axed. It had to be done but I liked him more than most Vikings fans. More for his skills on the personnel side and overall philosophies than as an actual gameday coach. Because of the lockout stuff, Frazier is probably the favorite for the full-time job if they do a decent job the rest of the way. That's probably not a bad thing.

I'm all aboard the Cam train. I can talk myself into Newton, Mallett or Locker. Or Stanzi in the 2nd/3rd. I just really want a QB I can have hope in.

Hard for me to really be mad about the Iowa game. We played well for the most part. It really came down to Pryor just being a freak and making the handful of plays he needed to make. Not to be Lee Corso but I have a different impression of that guy after seeing him in person. It's just Groundhog Day for this season. We're just as good as we were last year, but all those close games we lucked out last year are going the other way. 3 times we've given up the lead in the last 2 minutes. Only 2 things really still make me mad: a) that non-call on 1st down when Robinson got blown up on the screen. b) That OSU has not gone down yet. You know they're paying dudes and doing shady [expletive] but it will never be proven. That hick bastard Pelini is going to make me sick for the next 20 years.

He was 10/21, 68 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT (and lucky to not have 2 more) against a very mediocre Bruins defense. I'd love to see the Vikings take him over a better QB. It's all about his physical prowess though. Part of me is convinced that he's gonna be Josh Freeman but maybe better because he's more talented. The other part thinks that Sarkisian is a good offensive coach and he hasn't developed under him. The numbers are similar, the questions and the positives are similar. Of course there are many more hits than misses in that mold though.

Iowa beat Alabama 55-47. I also know nothing about Alabama but that's a good win for us regardless. Held them to 47 points in a 64 possession game and to 34% from the field and 16 turnovers. About to watch it online to see if we played good defense or if they were just terrible. They were 51st in Pomeroy's rankings and their offense was good against Seton Hall.

Yeah it was obvious there was something when his statement thanked everyone from the bus driver to the film dude but nothing about Carmody.

I was always surprised at the #1 player in the country thing but since everyone else agreed, I assumed I was just clueless. I mean he can do everything well but he's not very explosive and never wowed me when I saw him. He's elite but I don't think he knows what his game is yet and he doesn't have the crazy athleticism to dominate without that.

Joyner Breakdown KC Joyner thinks Ricky Stanzi might be the best college passer in the country and in the Heisman conversation. Of interest for those of you who pay attention to the draft. Kiper says he may be a 2nd rounder.

Pearl should have taken the Iowa job. He could have pulled a Sampson and landed safely.

And I'm still completely torn on Locker in the NFL. The success Josh Freeman has had really messes that up. I think I want him to be a Viking though.

How can Neuheisel not recruit better quarterbacks to UCLA? I don't get it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it allows him to do work for the BTN and regional outlets (MSG or whoever he does the Knicks for) but not any of it's competitors or major networks. Really this just needs to be a BTN production or else it will suck. Unfortunately the BTN doesn't really have any good game crews right now.

First game I've seen in a week but that was fun. Dominant 1st period. Outshot them 20-4 but the goals come on garbage from Toews.

This is terrible. They had years to improve on their product when they had multiple BCS games and couldn't do it. I'm sure it will be a great production after they have 0 games all year. Plus it will get very little lead up and promotion by ESPN. It would be better if they just let the BTN produce the whole thing but air it on Fox.

Anybody know anything about Xavier? Iowa plays them Friday night in the Paradise Jam, then either Alabama or Seton Hall. Xavier only beat Western Michigan by 3 and then IUPU Fort Wayne took them to OT last night. They have to be better than that, don't they? Wake lost again, this time by 21 to VCU.

Fran is on the board with his first win. Ugly, ugly game though. UL-Monroe was awful. Hopefully Gatens is back this weekend. They'll need him.

My tv was on espn from this morning so at lunch I was able to rewind and watch that SIU finish. It didn't look like anyone signaled for timeout or yelled for it. Think the ref may have just been anticipating. Wish this marathon would have been last Tuesday when I was home sick. All of these games have been close.
