In this thread alone I've read of about 5 schools wondering what would happen if "they backed the truck up" for Brad Stevens. Come the [expletive] on. I'm still pissed Iowa didn't back the truck up for Jamie Dixon last year, he surely would have come if we backed that truck up. It's so easy to do. You just get a truck and back it up and all that pretend Monopoly money comes out and everyone is happy.

Sar-chasm. He tweeted that Matt Painter was going to Ball St (his alma mater) for 7 years, $70K per with use of a pickup truck. People were too dumb to notice the obvious joke and started asking him if it was true and then asking other reporters if they had heard about Painter going to Ball St. So then he said that Knight was going to Purdue for 3 years/$30M, again making it obvious that he wasn't serious with those details.

An awful lot like Hewitt. He'll recruit well and they'll always look like they have absolutely no idea what they're doing offensively.

The only thing I can figure is that they can't really afford to give him a raise. They gave him an 8 year extension to 1.3 million last April. If Mizzou is really offering upwards of 2.4 million, then I can't imagine that Purdue can really afford to go that high, if they can go up at all. I just didn't think they would have to go nearly equal in pay. He's from Indiana, was a captain at Purdue, got the opportunity to go big-time from them and has spent 7-8 years there. I assumed if he left it would be for a top-tier job.

You guys remember after the '06 season when there were a lot of reports that Alford was going to Missouri? Missouri could probably do worse. Of course they could do better also.

I like Stevens but it [expletive] sucks as an Iowa fan because it's a constant reminder of what we thought we were getting and how far away it was. Lickliter came and brought 2 assistants from there. The one guy who stayed is now a ridiculously good coach, good recruiter and just a great guy who is really interesting and cool as hell. Instead we got a coach who didn't want to talk to anyone and didn't enjoy recruiting. Instead of overlooked diamonds in the rough we just somehow got guys who weren't athletic but also couldn't shoot and weren't smart. And even though they sucked they were still babies who thought they should be playing more. The token black guys that came in had no idea how to play.

Setting new records for futility. One final 4 team and 3 Elite 8 teams left. I've got 3 Final Four teams left but the same amount of Elite 8. I'm pretty sure I've never been down to 3/8 before the Sweet 16 even began. EDIT: Check that I've got 4. I was still operating under my worst case scenario if KU had lost.
