  1. The Jets must get annoyed by having to draft more than a couple players per year.
  2. In general the course is tougher to score low than it was in '97. However it also played tougher that weekend in '97 than this weekend. Tiger's 270 was not only a record, but he won by 12 strokes. He was up 9 going into Sunday. Only 4 guys ended within 5 strokes. This week you had 4 guys within 5 strokes and 22 guys within 15. Tiger's performance was complete dominance though only his 2nd most dominant performance.
  3. That's like saying the a-bomb has a "pretty big" explosion... LOL no kidding. That was such typical Phil. When it was clear he was going for it we were practically screaming "Don't do it". If he doesn't catch that completely flush out of the straw and it comes up just 3-5 yards shorter it ends up in Ray's creek, he bogies and gives everyone a shot. Instead he hits an incredible shot and practically slammed the door shut on one shot. I love watching him, hope he's able to get a couple more. Westwood is bound to win one and I bet he gets it in the British this year. Three consecutive top 3's of course but he has 4 top 3's in the last 8 majors and has a top 3 in each of the majors since '08. It's just sick that Tiger struck the ball that poorly the last two days, missed that many putts and still ends at -11. Fun to see yet again what's coming in the next 5-10 years from Anthony Kim.
  4. Ours was a draft. I had the first pick. I ended up with Tiger Woods, Camilo Villegas, Sean O'Hair and Mike Weir. I took Tiger and Weir into the weekend (you can only have 2). I don't think anyone took Phil. Some of these guys in the pool went to school with Phil. Hilarious. Of course, the reason they didn't take him will probably show up today. Then they're idiots and I want in your pools so I can take their money.
  5. That 45 minutes or so from 4:00 til 4:45 was just incredible.
  6. Yeah I'm sure you're right. Gatens, Cole, May, Cougill, McCabe, Marble and likely Cully. Fran is going to be content with that. He's not going to even try to recruit anyone else. He's just gonna say "eff it, I'm good with 6-7 guys". Did I say Iowa was going to field a 6-7 man team? I think I used the word might there. This is even worse. If you threw it out there trying to be funny or absurd, whatever. Now you're actually defending it by pointing out your use of "might". If if were anyone else I wouldn't believe it.
  7. Yeah I'm sure you're right. Gatens, Cole, May, Cougill, McCabe, Marble and likely Cully. Fran is going to be content with that. He's not going to even try to recruit anyone else. He's just gonna say "eff it, I'm good with 6-7 guys".
  8. That is really strange, can't imagine their fans are all that pleased. Katz says the AD and Bzdelik have been friends for decades.
  9. Came in to this thread to see the reaction when Silva was pulled and ran into this. I laughed.
  10. I think Fuller is gone. 4th straight year of our best player transferring at the end of the year. It hurts for next year but we'll see what Fran can do. I expected some transfers/decommits and it's not a bad thing given that the style of play and types of players recruited are so different. Unfortunately Larson was our best recruit and Fuller turned into our best player last year.
  11. I'm good with expansion and I want Notre Dame in the Big Ten. I hate the idea of a 16 team conference.
  12. I don't think I would. He's going to be making north of $1M now, they've been a top 25 program for the last 5 years and he has a top 5 team coming back next year. He's comfortable, near home and is so young that he doesn't need to hurry for that big money grab anytime soon. It's like Sean Miller when he was at Xavier or Mark Few at Gonzaga, he can turn down plenty to wait for an elite job.
  13. Freddy was dialed in today, I hope he sticks. Tiger was Tiger. Missed some fairways though his driver wasn't bad, great irons, good putting with a few lip-outs. That miss on 18 surprised me. Still when he shoots 68 on Thursday, look out.
  14. Patterson, Wall, Cousins, Blesdoe and Orton are all going pro. I would bet Bledsoe and Orton will be back though. Either they're going pro or they're coming back. They can't do both.
  15. He's not a good coach but it's still amazing when you fire a guy with a 61-31 record, 2 NCAA's and a good recruiting class coming in. I wonder if Tubby would be in play there?
  16. Agreed and your last few sentences are what I was referencing. The only place that could be worse than Chicago is NY and I'm not that familiar with them. Their sense of entitlement and hunger for power is just sickening.
  17. I'll stand by my argument that that there's no comparison between the 2 when it comes to actual coaching. Coach K does have the market cornered on having his players coached up to hack the crap out of a ballhandler yet not get a foul called. If Izzo masters that, look out. He has. I'm not sure where you're going with that. Izzo's teams are a hell of a lot more physical than K's.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/ncb/news/story?id=5060870 The entire Chicago AAU and high school basketball system needs to be blown up.
  19. Don't forget the Lakers.
  20. Whoa, what happened to John Scheyer?
  21. Oh and Jennifer Hudson can go to hell. I know she can sing, I don't care. She ruined that song with her screaming and overextending every other [expletive] word. And give me a break on them showing her face like 8 times during the song.
  22. I hate Duke as much as anyone but I didn't see the blatant pro-Duke officiating that some of you are talking about. They blew a lot of calls but I never felt like it was one-sided. What a [expletive] game though.
  23. Damn that was an annoying game. Their weak hits early, then Z, our loud outs, the ump missing that call, the tight zone, Theriot/Fontenot/Soriano/Samardzija. At least Marshall and Russell pitched well, Aramis was squaring the ball up and Marlon made me like him right away. I can't imagine what that game thread was like.
  24. The Pistons are now tied for the 3rd worst record in the league with Washington and Golden State. The Kings are a half game back. They've lost 11 straight and if they can just lose to Philly at home, there's a decent chance they lose their next 5 before finishing at Minnesota. This 2-18 stretch has been the best thing that could have happened this year. I was afraid they were going to get healthy and finally put it together.
