  1. Go to the Clips LeBron. The sign and trade idea to Chicago is nuts. They aren't going to give him more money and aid him in leaving while also keeping him in the division. Especially for Luol [expletive] Deng. Do you guys think this is 2007 again? EDIT: Broussard just said that a sign and trade is the last, last, last resort. They'd rather have the cap space.
  2. FYI here is what Dan Poneman said regarding Illinois' 2011 class:
  3. Remember a couple of years ago when everyone started freaking out that LeBron, Kobe, Wade, etc. could/would go over to Greece or somewhere else in Europe because of the money?
  4. If LeBron is all about his legacy he should go to the Clips.
  5. This is an interesting point that I think makes a lot of sense. Be kinda like the Pete Carroll situation in Seattle. A lot of former Calipari coached players around the league. And he has recruited a lot more. If no Lebron, worse case scenario, he does a sale job to other FAs and Derrick Rose gets to play for him again. I think it's a horrible idea. It's the NBA, you aren't recruiting. The majority of free agents go where there's a fit with money.
  6. Uthoff? Dan Poneman saw him last week and thinks he's a stud. I'm always a little skeptical of kids who don't have a single high-major offer after their junior year who suddenly "blow up". I saw him a couple times last year and thought he would be a really good MVC player. Obviously he's improved and I wouldn't mind him at Iowa. He's very skilled and is a very good passer. He's a good shooter but I think that gets hyped up more because he's 6'8. I just don't know how he gained the athleticism to suddenly guard 3's in the Big Ten and he's 30+ pounds from being a 4.
  7. That could be, I don't know. His AAU coach said yesterday though that it was his offer right now if he wants it. His point was that's a good indicator of how highly they view him that they would tell a top 40 kid he doesn't have an offer anymore. He could be blowing smoke but he's usually not your typical AAU promoter.
  8. The free board on that site is awful. Plus the last place I'm going to look for anything rational about Iowa or any other school is on another conference team's message board. I still can't believe they offered Uthoff though. According to his AAU coach Illinois has two spots for '11 left, a big and a guard. Meaning if Uthoff decides tomorrow that he wants it, they won't have a spot left for Shaw or any of their other inside '11 targets.
  9. Those 3rd (Cammalleri) and 5th (Cammalleri to Gionta) goals were just things of beauty.
  10. Yep but now it's pretty clear that you can't rule out Halak standing on his head and leading them to the Cup. Unlikely but he's been such a stud the last two weeks. In a way I was kind of hoping for the Penguins to win because a Blackhawks/Penguins finals would have been a lot of fun.
  11. Ryan Bowen is all kinds of awesome. But I just wonder why he wants to do the video coordinator thing, when I imagine he could have gotten on as an NBA assistant? I think he wanted to be at Iowa and wants to work in the college game. Plus it wouldn't be surprising to see Speraw get a head job somewhere in the next couple years. Bowen doesn't need the money and is willing to work his way up. Spend a couple of years as the video coordinator, learn the ins and outs and he'll probably have a spot as a full-time assistant within a few years. You're right though. With his reputation in the league he probably could have gotten an NBA assistant gig sometime soon.
  12. That last 8 minutes or so of the 2nd the Pens were just swarming. Good thing they sleepwalked through the first 30 minutes. Now they've got a 4-3 for the first minute of the 3rd and then 50 seconds of 5-4. I predict the Pens score only to see Halak rip their hearts out late.
  13. This is just pitiful. It's not just Halak standing on his head like it was at times against the Caps. They're just completely dominating this game. Pittsburgh is lazy, sloppy and dumb.
  14. It's a great staff for Iowa. Much better than we've seen here in 20 years. When you combine the experience and connections they have with an uptempo style of play and a $40M practice facility, I'm hopeful that we can actually get back to beating other Big Ten schools for out of state recruits again. Fran has done everything right thus far, now they have to find some players.
  15. Anybody in the draft that fills the role as sharpshooter? That's what I'm asking. I don't really follow college sports at all, so who fills that roll in the draft that the Bulls have a shot at? James Anderson, Xavier Henry and Gordon Hayward are all projected around that range. All between 6'6-6'8 and can be good-very good shooters.
  16. I want Cal to take the Bulls job just to watch the UK meltdown. Ideally they would hire Calipari but miss out on LeBron which is probably unlikely.
  17. yes. If boston wins Hawks will play friday, if Philly takes it to 7, hawks will play sunday. Go Flyers. The Sunday game would be on NBC Sunday afternoon. I think it gives the Hawks an ideal amount of rest and it gives the Sharks a full week off which could cause some rust.
  18. The other big positive is after all of the numbers we've seen about scoring disparity 5-5, we dominated that game without the aid of the power play. A lot of guys stepped it up. Sopel had his best game and I thought he played well even outside of the PK. The Bolland line played maybe their best game collectively. After Brouwer's penalty I was completely dumbfounded as to why Q went with him over Kopecky and then he scores and makes some nice plays. We also could have found ourselves in an early 2-0 hole if not for Niemi making a couple big saves in the 1st.
  19. This site gives you broadcast assignments for all of the playoff games: http://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2010/05/11/your-announcers-and-open-thread-for-night-28-of-the-2010-stanley-cup-playoffs/
  20. Wow, these playoffs have completely sucked so far outside of Lakers/Thunder and that was nothing special.
  21. So apparently Sami Salo has a ruptured testicle. Hockey players have to wear a cup, don't they?
  22. Buff hurt us tonight. Missed an open net on our best chance and gave them two power plays on bad penalties, one of which they converted. Then really you just had Hendry's poor play on the second goal and Niemi giving up a soft first score. I don't think they were dominant, they converted on those opportunities we gave them which allowed them to play it safe in the 3rd. Our power play was terrible though.
  23. Seriously, come on. Especially when they were trying to change, what is he doing up there? I get so nervous when he and Sopel are on the ice in a 5-5.
  24. There are some real "what the [expletive]'s?" on that list that's staying in. Especially some of those SEC guys. I like that Oklahoma and Ole Miss are sending 5 early entrants.
  25. I tried going there last week and it seemed like a bunch of tough guys. There was a thread lamenting that Edzo was from Chicago and the broadcaster because he was talking about finishing checks but they claimed he was a wuss when he played. So what, I love him as a color man. Plus maybe it's just my browser but whenever I clicked on a thread it took me to the last post which was annoying. I read Second City Hockey.
