  1. Regardless of his points, this game demonstrated why Buff is so frustrating. I understand it's tough to come with that energy every game but come with half that effort in this series and everyone has a different opinion of you. He was a monster even with Pronger on the ice. Winning battles with the puck, actually skating and puck handling to set up offense and finishing every check. At any rate, the passing tonight was a thing of beauty. The definition of tape to tape for much of the game. And it may have just been to try to shift momentum but if I'm Leighton I'm pretty pissed about getting yanked. He was under attack for the entire 1st. He lost track of the puck on Bolland's goal but that was a tough play off the boards. He could've made a better play on Versteeg's goal but he also made some nice saves and virtually had no breaks in that period.
  2. I wish I wasn't so convinced that this thing was coming back to Chicago for game 7.
  3. Happy to see this will be a series. I only saw about two minutes in the 2nd and the last 3 minutes of the 4th due to the Blackhawks, but did Kobe just have a poor game or did the Celtics smother him? Wish I would've seen Allen's performance. Easily my favorite player in this series. Was it mainly Fisher on him? That's what I saw in the 2nd.
  4. Maybe it was the beer, but did Q really extend/double up the shifts tonight? It seemed like the 4th line was barely out there compared to the last few games. Still had some scares when they were out there with Sopel/Boynton.
  5. I kind of like him, as much as you would like an opposing coach in the Stanley Cup Finals. Not much to add from a post-game perspective. That 1st period was as much fun as I've had watching such a key game with other people. Beyond domination. The speed/energy/physicality superiority they displayed is rarely, if ever seen in such an important game. Toews set the tone, what else can you say about the guy? I said before the game I expected a big game from him but I was hardly alone. Forget the points, that might have been his best game of the playoffs. Definitely Buff's best game. Hossa was the man again, Kane was a stud. Versteeg had some glorious plays. I was skeptical when I saw Kopecky on the 1st line but Q put them together beautifully.
  6. Orangebloods guy is saying an AD told him the Big Ten is trying to work things out with Notre Dame before moving on Nebraska or Mizzou. That's my ideal scenario. I would love to see the Big Ten just add ND, Pac 10 add Utah and Colorado and the Big 12 can just add TCU to replace them. I don't like the idea of super-leagues.
  7. No line changes for the morning skate but that's likely Q just hiding his intentions. Ladd and Keith didn't go but are expected to play. Toews is too good and has stepped up in too many big moments for me to think his sub-par play continues tonight.
  8. There's no such thing as game-to-game momentum.
  9. Well at least tonight we had 3 D's play well with 7/2/51. Campbell especially had his best game of the series by far. If Hammer is decent it's clearly a completely different game. Boynton played pretty well all things considered and wasn't a dropoff compared to Hendry. Sopel was about what you'd expect. I have to think we're going to start to get to some of those pucks left in front of the net. The faster team with basically the same amount of physicality just has to start winning some of those battles.
  10. I called for it tonight and was wrong so I have no cred, but Sunday is the night the Hawks put it together. Either way the wait from Sunday to Wednesday is going to be awful.
  11. Really though, if there's one guy I'm expecting a 180 from it's Toews. Give it to the Flyers though. I didn't think a team that gave up the blue line as easily as they have could shut down this offense the way they have in the last 3 games.
  12. God help us if they get an early lead.
  13. Two of our three goals came on a deflection off a Flyers' stick and a weird play where it got caught in a defenseman's pants and he backed it into the net. How much more puck luck do you want? I'm not disagreeing, but seeing all the chances PHI got around the net on rebounds or bad/mishandled clearances and the Hawks're lucky that the Flyers didn't put a 10-spot on the board. But those weren't luck, they were poor play. The goal off Versteeg's back, okay. Hammer making poor decisions/poor clearings are not luck. The Flyers keeping the Hawks off the net and controlling the rebounds aren't totally luck. A few of them yes, but a lot of it was good positioning on their part.
  14. The people who think Toews is choking are the same people who will blame Hossa for his Cup woes. No doubt he's played poorly this series but there's nothing in Toews' career to indicate a "choke". I fully expect him to rebound in the last 3 games.
  15. The puck luck was evened out with our 3rd goal after their 4th goal. Most of the other stuff was just poor or good play.
  16. Agreed. It's a shame Hammer had the blunders in the 1st or else it's a 1-1 game going to the 2nd with us dominating play to that point. And that's not even mentioning Sopel thinking he was a forward on their 3rd goal with 35 seconds left which was huge. Will be interesting to see what Q does with the lines. You know he's going to mix it up for game 5.
  17. Terrible play but I disagree. He had a solid game and has been solid this series on both ends in my opinion. i'm talking about in general. seabrook and hjalmarsson both played better defense than keith this season. the amount of turnovers he makes is insane On the season you're right. This series Hammer has been dragged down by playing with Sopel more than normal and had the awful 1st period tonight. Duncan has had a solid series. At least Campbell had a good game again tonight. And Boynton didn't wet the bed.
  18. Then I flip back on double play on DirecTV and see the Cubs mustered 1 run tonight.
  19. Terrible play but I disagree. He had a solid game and has been solid this series on both ends in my opinion.
  20. Oh hell what was that Dunc? Wow, so close to tying it 2-3 times there.
  21. The puck luck is inevitably evened out.
  22. Okay they've done a great job with rebound control but so much of this is puck luck.
  23. 5-3, come on! Good effort Kane. Sharpie can be added to the good list with Hossa among our forwards.
  24. Hasn't been sharp but the last one was puck luck. Not a lot he could've done on Sopel's breakdown. Poor effort on Hammer's first turnover but that's on the d and he should have also had a better clear on the 2nd goal.
  25. Ridiculous. Should've added Versteeg to the goat list earlier. Their rebound control has been outstanding. This can't last.
