  1. I wonder why.. We had a bunch of movements like that over the last two games. We couldn't finish any of them. Really? You would know better than I, but I can't seem recall any possessions that started on our own side and included 7 quick passes (each one getting us closer to their goal) that completely shredded the defense and led to a wide open shot.
  2. I was going to say, where are goal judges? If you don't want replay because they don't have it at lower levels, that's dumb but whatever. But why not at least have goal judges like hockey? That wasn't even close. FIFA seems really lame.
  3. I can't recall ever seeing the U.S. score a goal in the World Cup through a series of awesome passes and movement like Germany's 2nd goal.
  4. Being decent in the NBA sucks. I want to be a true championship contender or have the most lottery balls if I'm an NBA GM. Nothing in between. Of course, being "decent" is NBA hell. What I mean is a team like the Bulls can legitimately contend in the east if they missed out on the big 3 and ended up with something like Johnson/Boozer.
  5. Agreed. I don't actively hate on soccer and I like watching the U.S. games in the world cup but I can't get into anything beyond that. I know the diving and faking of injuries is something soccer fans are forced to live with but it just kills me.
  6. The Heat's gameplan is fascinating to me. They basically have no roster outside of Chalmers and then Beasley who they're desperately trying to deal all in the hopes of landing 3 max free agent's. The Bulls and Nets are at least set up to be decent if they strike out on the top 3 targets. The Knicks and Heat are going to be dreadful for years if they strike out.
  7. You didn't care about the Toews/Kane drafts? Not so much for Toews, but yeah I watched when they had the 1st pick. I'm just not one of those people who knows who all the prospects are and really cares what goes on after the first few picks. Same for me. There's only so much time you can allocate to sports. The NHL is the one sport that I don't really know anything about prospects either for the draft or in the systems. Plus for me it's kind of fun to have one sport where you just watch the games and don't really pay ttention to the advanced stats or prospects. I also have no idea how to evaluate hockey prospects so that's most of it. When I watch the draft I can't pick up on the differences between the majority of the forwards, d's or goalies.
  8. Nice pick. ESPN is so terrible at the NBA draft. Right as Jay Bilas is saying shooting his is strength and he's a catch and shoot guy, they flash their graphic: Must improve shooting. Barry hasn't said a single useful thing all night and we all know that Scott should have been sent somewhere far away long ago.
  9. That's what I like to know about it.
  10. Happy with Monroe. If they couldn't get Cousins he was the next best big. Fortunately Golden State saved us from Ed Davis.
  11. Have to hope the Warriors take Udoh as has been rumored recently. I like Monroe a lot more than Davis.
  12. Do the Piston's care at all about defense? Joe D does. I think he thought Kuester would be able to get some of those guys to commit to the defensive end but that didn't happen. Really he wants the team to get tougher and wants a big who can be a presence. Al's defense was supposedly improved before his knee injury and last year he was never fully recovered. He won't be a stud but if he's average defensively, you take it. You're right though that's a really, really bad defensive core.
  13. Draft Express says that Minnesota is offering Al Jefferson, #16 and #23 to Detroit for Tayshaun, #7 and Chris Wilcox. Seems like a no brainer to me but it sounds like everyone is scared about his knee. Plus that means like $45M tied up with Rip, Jefferson, Ben and Villanueva. Still you have a pretty solid core and could grab an upside big like Orton/Whiteside and Bledsoe or a guy like Anderson/Ebanks/Pondexter to have off the bench. Also, '93 draft on NBA TV, J.R. Rider said that he's a perfect man off the court and in society. He's only been arrested about 42 times since then. I liked these older drafts where the site rotated among different NBA cities. A lot more lively crowd than what you have now.
  14. That's what I expected from Bowman. He's not the kind of guy you worry about getting too attached or overrating players because of the run. Sharp is and was the most important forward to hang onto.
  15. A lot of rumors flying about the Pistons using Tay's expiring to trade for Al Jefferson (Wolves then draft Favors) or trading up to get Cousins. Ford and Simmons both feel the Pistons are one of the ideal fits for him. Of course this means we'll end up stuck at 7 with Ed Davis or Epke Udoh.
  16. Saturday in October? Boo Tailgating in the morning, watch your Hawkeyes at 11, then drink your way til 7PM, Hawks raise the banner! I just hope it doesn't conflict with a Cubs playoff game. ha ha ha HA. Actually that's the Hawkeyes bye weekend so no problem there. A week prior and it would have been at the same time as Iowa/Penn State. I just can't commit to watching hockey on the weekend until February really though this game will be an exception. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday are ideal until football season is over.
  17. I think this draft kind of sucks and the Pistons are hosed at 7 but whatever. Anyways when I got home a half hour ago I saw that NBA TV was replaying the '01 draft so I flipped it on while doing some work. You forget about some of the busts and nightmares from the mid 90's-early 2000's drafts. Some highlights: -After the Warriors drafted Jason Richardson, the panel was confused to how he would fit in with Larry Hughes. Dave Cowens said that they're confident Hughes can make a smooth transition to point guard and "won't feel like has to shoot so much there." That worked out well. -Eddie Griffin and Rodney White were lauded for their character. -Rodney White was Rick Pitino's pick for rookie of the year. -Desagna Diop comparisons to Olajuwon. -Kirk Haston was the guy that Paul Silas was hoping would fall to 16. -The Blazers had concerns about their dysfunctional team so they drafted Zach Randolph.
  18. Well there is one less team of chuckers in the league so that should help.
  19. Well no wonder he died.
  20. Exactly. Especially when you have Tiger, Ernie and Phil all in the mix. Once Ernie got through with his awful 9-10-11 stretch that dropped him back, they couldn't even pose the threat of making a run. They all made numerous mental mistakes, hit poor shots and rarely made putts. Fairly shocking considering the talent up there. McDowell was just steadily hitting fairway's and making the 5-10 foot putts that everyone else seemed to be missing. And his "steady" round was a 74. It was there for the taking and although the greens were super tough, no one could step up.
  21. What a strange day. Who would have guessed that E would win it heading into the afternoon, especially with some good scores posted early. McDowell deserved it, he was steady all along. Hit a ton of fairways today and made all the putts he needed to make unlike the heavyweights. Ernie looked like he was headed for a huge round early on but made a couple huge mistakes and missed too many makeable putts. Just brutal for Tiger to play the first 7 holes the way he did. Phil couldn't make any putts and really that was his whole weekend outside of Friday.
  22. Johnson just hasn't really had many holes in his game this week, owns Pebble and really just needs to post a 71. Still, you never know how a guy like him will react to this position on Sunday in a major.
  23. Is Italy one of the worst diving teams in the world? italy are the worst divers on the planet, period. Good to know. France has to have a bunch of divers also, right?
  24. Is Italy one of the worst diving teams in the world? Seeing guys rolling around in agony as if they were shot when there was barely contact just makes me want to change the channel. Unless the diving team is trailing, then I want to stick around to see them lose.
