  1. Damn, you really wanted to make sure that Greg Ostertag joke got through.
  2. In 234 AB's: .308/.358/.449. And he's only a child.
  3. not on steroids any more, that's where. Roast wants to see the proof.
  4. I hadn't seen it but I heard Dan Bernstein referencing it the other day. Amazing how Dayton Moore has turned out after it seemed like he was widely regarded as a potentially great GM by most in the baseball world.
  5. Thanks for posting, that was good stuff.
  6. I think he ends up at Illinois.
  7. Indeed. It's hard to fault the kid though. His game fits the Badger system, and Wisconsin is a far better situation to step into. I guess the next best player in Iowa would be Oglesby? Who Iowa has yet to offer despite his all but begging for one. Yeah a lot of fans are puzzled by that one. I like him a lot more than Uthoff but I think the coaches might be concerned he doesn't really add anything new to the roster. Whereas at Illinois he can really come in and have a defined role and be a good compliement to what they have. Iowa's #1 target for next year is a kid Devin Coleman from Philly whom Fran has been all over for like 3 years going back to his Siena days. He has offers from A-10 schools, Rutgers, etc. but apparently Cincy, Virginia and others are close. Iowa is on top right now but I'm worried he gets the Big East offer he wants, Oglesby commits somewhere else and then they're on plan c. Is Iowa going hard after Jok yet? Watching him but they haven't offered yet. I'm not sure what offers he actually has thus far. They have like 4 main targets for the '11 class but 2012 is the big one. 3 top 100 kids in Iowa. They sit pretty well with Woodbury the big. Marcus Paige a PG, is a top 25 kid overall and they had zero chance with Lickliter. He and his family really like Fran and his staff but once (if) the Kansas offer comes it's going to be tough. They need to start sealing the deal with some of these '11 kids pretty soon but it's nice to actually be recruiting athletes again and at least have a chance with some players.

  9. Kind of but not a huge loss. It's not a sour grapes "we lost him so I'm going to trash him" thing either. I've said all along on here I was leery of how he went from being an MVC guy to this coveted prize in two months on the AAU circuit. I think people have just convinced themselves it's possible he can be Robbie Hummel or Gordon Hayward. He's skilled for a 6'8 guy but I don't know how he guards anyone in the Big Ten for at least 2 years or more. It stinks that they lost another kid 30 minutes away who was wanted by successful programs but I really don't see him being a difference maker. I just see him as a rail thin 6'8 guy who can't guard wing's, isn't strong enough to play in the post and has a very inconsistent motor. At Wisconsin he'll probably redshirt next year, get 5 minutes in two years and turn into a stud by his junior year though.
  10. I hope we don't end up with him. I know he's from Iowa, but how can any kid consider joining that program? That's a horrible situation right now. Illinois needs to focus on Shaw. The same way most new coaches (outside of Lickliter) have success recruiting early in their tenure. They can sell hope and early playing time while the atmosphere around them is usually positive. In this case it's a half hour from home, up-tempo style and he's been playing summer ball with the whole team. Fran is at least recruiting athletes and has us in decent position for some solid recruits.
  11. Jarrod Uthoff is announcing his choice tomorrow. Sounds like Iowa and Wisconsin are favorites, but I wouldn't rule out Butler, Illinois and ISU.
  12. Not me. Then you know you're seeing greatness on top of it's game, completely dominating. This weekend you saw a guy with no track record greatly benefit from his early tee times and then play well on the weekend while everyone else was either too far back or went meekly. Give it up for him, he was unflappable this weekend. But even as a fanatic of this tournament, I was completely deflated after Casey's triple and had a hard time staying awake for the last 3 holes.
  13. Least exciting Open ever.
  14. Agree. Right or wrong he thinks he can be "the guy". I wish Mumbles and Noah weren't Bulls. I hated him at Florida but I love what he's become in the NBA. Speaking of love...
  15. Same here. People got really excited because Redick had some decent play but I'd definitely rather have Brewer. It's just so weird to have 3 free agents from the same team end up with the same team. While pretty much true, remember that Brewer was traded to Memphis last season. Completely forgot about that.
  16. Anyone watch today? I haven't seen anything since 8:30 but have it recording. Heard about the wind delay and some of Tiger's play.

  18. Who are you Louis Oosthuizen and why will you not go away? The condidtions are getting tougher all day and if Rory takes a step or two back you could have Louie with a 5 shot lead over Calcavecchia heading to the weekend just as I predicted. That's what makes The Open fun though.
  19. All the more reason to make a deal for Rip.
  20. What exactly happened on Castro's steal of home? Pat and Ron later described it as a straight steal.
  21. i assumed it was a joke or something i hope it was serious though Rob was extremely offended.
  22. Yeah. One of the channels has 1 & 18, another has the road hole and the third is the BBC feed. 17 could be fun to watch. When I was home this morning I only watched it on ESPN but the BBC broadcast could be alright for a change.
  23. All of the live coverage is on ESPN. 6A-1:30P on Saturday and 5A-12:30P Sunday. ABC will have the highlights/replay from 2-5.
  24. Agree with almost all of this post. Since the knee injury he's gone T6, T6, Cut, 2, T4, T4. People want Phil to do well over there and I think they bought in to his optimism and love of the course. I'd love to see Daly hang but he's just as likely to post 80 as 70 tomorrow. I would love to get over there and play true links golf someday. I've enjoyed the cheap imitations that I've played over here. Love hitting punch shots and playing bump and runs.
