  1. I hope so. If you're splitting Michigan and OSU, that's about the best you can do.
  2. The Wisconsin and Iowa rivalry may very well be a victim of the alignment. I can live with that if we still have Minnesota and add Nebraska. Plus it could always be the protected crossover game, depending on where Minnesota goes. What's freaking me out is the possibility that Iowa gets sent to the East so Wisconsin can stay with Minnesota. Plus Barry and Bret have been telling everyone that will listen how badly they want Nebraska to end the year. They have more pull than Barta and Iowa as the least populated state in the mix (well Nebraska but they have more history) is probably the most likely to get hosed. Here's Rittenberg's entry on this which I find interesting: http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/14936/division-dominoes-wisconsin-iowa-to-split He has Wisconsin and Minnesota going to the East with the Indiana schools and OSU/PSU and the Michigan and Illinois schools going west with Iowa and Nebraska. That could set up an awesome final Saturday of rivalry games in the division. Michigan-MSU, Iowa-Nebraska, Illinois-Northwestern, Ohio State-PSU, Wisconsin-Minnesota, Purdue-Indiana.
  3. I assumed they wanted the divisional alignments announced before the season began so they didn't think attention was being taken from the actual games. I don't know whether I should hold out hope for them to get it right though. It's so easy but it sounds like they're going to completely mess it up.
  4. Definitely.
  5. Sounds like the more likely timeline is the first half of the season but that's when the schedule is toughest. He and Rosenhaus screwed up this entire situation. Doctors told him it would probably be best if he had the surgery this summer so he could be full speed at the beginning of the year. They decided on their own that it wasn't that bad and would heal on it's own with rehab. So now he's been on the PUP list and hasn't practiced yet.
  6. Yep. Exactly. Which will be a shock to the people who posted in the "FIRE LOU" thread every time there was one issue with the lineup.
  7. These divisional speculations keep getting worse and worse. Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern. OSU, PSU, Michigan, MSU, Purdue, Indiana. That's all you have to do.
  8. So is QB FORCE transferring or not?
  9. Though I was excited when we got him, he had a better run in Chicago than I expected. He had 2 terrific years, 1 outstanding year and 3 decent years while playing really good defense and being a good dude. Godspeed D-Lee.
  10. I saw the first quote earlier but the second one is just hilarious. Hopefully Haslem is just the first member of the Heat to end up in prison or injured. Someone needs to create a special task force to monitor all of their activities.
  11. Bottom line is if Cutler goes down, it doesn't really matter who is taking snaps behind center. People say this all the time and it drives me nuts. Yeah if he's lost for the year that's the case. But don't you want someone who can potentially keep you afloat if he's hurt for 2-3 games? Or just to fill in for 2 quarters if he gets knocked out in a game?
  12. Boo! I have a feeling they're going to do the geographic thing with the exception of a PSU and Wisconsin swap as has been speculated. Then they'll try to create a rivalry between PSU and Nebraska, having them play on the final Saturday before or after UM/OSU. The geographic split works so well on all levels, don't overthink this.
  13. So the top 8 are Mickelson, Mahan, Bubba Watson, Furyk, Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Overton and Kuchar. 9-12 are Kim, Glover, Zach Johnson and Tiger. I'd like to see Tiger, Zach, Kim and Cink as the captain's picks.
  14. Clearly you and I went to normal schools. Yeah that's just weird. In the middle of a week-long vacation through the southeast and into Myrtle Beach. Just wanted to add that Knoxville was pretty cool. Found it amusing that the updates on their local sports talk radio station in Knoxville led with stats from Tuesday's scrimmage followed by more UT news, followed by other SEC football news and lastly Braves scores. Not a mention of the Titans. For an hour that we listened it was all about the QB controversy but they brought on an Oregon writer to talk about that game and whether Auburn should get the 2004 BCS title. SEC fans are nuts but kind of in a cooler way than I thought previously. At least the one's I've met, I'm sure if you get into less populated areas it's the typical stereotype. Of course they all assume that middle of the road SEC schools would be awesome in the Big Ten and top Big Ten schools would be middle of the pack in the SEC. They seem to respect Iowa and Ferentz but probably only because they've fared well against SEC schools in bowls. They seem to know a lot more about opposing SEC teams than Big Ten fans do about other teams in the conference.
  15. Yep. It's kind of frustrating that the migraines may be an issue his entire career. Plus you've got Sidney's hip issue which some writers are speculating is just a semi-holdout for a new contract. Not sure I buy it but I wish our best QB and best two WR's were at least spending some time in camp.
  16. I agree with PA. Tice is a hell of an o-line coach and I love me some Chester. I praised the Tice hire on here when it happened and wish he didn't go there. I like Cutler more than most non-Bears fans. I'm just really unsure about how Martz's offense is going to work with that o-line and Cutler.
  17. No. Not unless he has a great week at Whistling Straits. His play right now combined with the distraction would leave him off the team if I were captain. I agree that's probably the smart thing to do if winning is the only goal. But if exposure and TV ratings are another goal, and we all know there are, there will be a lot of pressure on Pavin to at least offer Woods one of the captain's picks. The more thought I give to it, the more you're right. He's still the most talented player in the world but his mind has been gone. He played last weekend like he didn't care. Maybe the new swing coach will help him. I like Tiger and I want him to get back close to at least his 2008 level. I just don't know if it will happen this year. Pavin basically has to pick him. The wildcard is if he doesn't qualify for the FedEx and is off for 6 weeks prior to the Cup. Phil, Mahan, Stricker, Furyk and Kim will all qualify and I like them all on the team. Overton is a douche but he's been playing really well and he'll qualify so he's on. Kuchar will qualify and so will Glover. So my captain's picks would be Tiger, Dustin Johnson, Cink and either Barnes or O'Hair. I would probably lean to O'Hair but Barnes has been better this year. So that would make my team: Phil, Mahan, Stricker, Furyk, Kim, Overton, DJ, Tiger, Cink, Barnes. I could see O'Hair bumping Cink although I wouldn't. Just don't put Fowler on there. He's also the best player. You can add another nobody to the bottom of the roster in his place, but you're probably better off seeing if Tiger can regain his form in a couple months. Maybe he needs a team atmosphere to do it instead of the world against Tiger situation he's been in since Thanksgiving.
  18. Fixed. OU games during his era should have had Benny Hill music on the loudspeakers the entire game. Gotta love getting a penalty for 14 men on the field. Apparently I should have paid more attention to OU during his tenure.
  19. No. Not unless he has a great week at Whistling Straits. His play right now combined with the distraction would leave him off the team if I were captain.
  20. No kidding. Come on Wilson, you just keep digging yourself deeper.
  21. It was on Sports Center last Monday when the news broke. The only person who has ever denied the texting saga has been Brett Favre and he obviously can't be trusted. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/07/31/ap.insider/index.html They were in practice when the news broke. It was afterwards that they had any reaction from the players and no one said they received the texts. There's no video anywhere online of it. Every Vikings message board I've seen has been asking who received them. The freaking local newspaper said they still can't figure out who received them and that NO ONE has admitted to it.
  22. How do you know? Peterson admitted on video he got a text. It is perfectly understandable that the Vikings are telling him to keep quiet. I don't think Allen said he didn't receive a text. He said he would believe Favre is does when he sees it. Either way multiple sources are saying that Favre put out texts saying he was through. WHERE IS THIS VIDEO? Can you please share it, because I know of no one else in the world who has seen such a thing. And I've been reading both Twin Cities papers every day while occasionally checking the message boards. You claimed both Allen and Peterson admitted they received the texts. So where did you see this?
  23. And supposedly TMac signed with the Pistons. Not yet but they're looking at it. The only way it makes any sense is if they're dealing Rip, Tayshaun, Ben or one of the 18 wings we have.
  24. They need the money just like the non top 25 teams. Many athletic departments count on that 7th home game to survive.
