  1. Thanks for posting that Marco, I completely forgot the draw was today. This stage of the champions league is amazing. Manchester United definitely got the best draw with Lille. Barca v. Liverpool-2 clubs with themost tradition and success in the world. Roma v. Lyon-should be a great match. Celtic-AC Milan-should be good. Milan has been down because of the match fixing scandal and are doing terrible in Serie A. Celtic has dominated the SPL and had the stunning goal to beat Man U to advance through the group stage of the champions league. Last but not least, Chelsea v. Porto. The draw could've been much worse for Chelsea, they easily could have faced Madrid, Inter, or Roma. Of course, there's the sub plot of Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, returning to face his old team, Porto. He won the Champions League with them in 2004. I'm really looking forward to these games.
  2. this has jim hendry all over it and i hope i'm dead wrong.
  3. As we all know, the Manning, Jr. suspension was ridiculously drawn out. Hopefully the same thing happens here, if at all.
  4. i don't like the sound of all this. DT is now a very shallow position, assuming Tank is out at least this week.
  5. I don't follow the MLS at all, but it looks like Adu will get more time playing for Salt Lake than sticking with D.C. United. That's a very positive step in my book. More than likely he'll be shipped overseas comes June anyway. I'm getting the feeling that Adu is going to be not nearly as great as many US Soccer supporters had hoped.
  6. That was pretty sweet. Not too sounds too Cardinal fan-ish here, but I always enjoy home fans supporting an away team's effort or performance. Here's a Here's a crazy angle from Super Frankie Lampard this season against Barcelona is a monster Champions League match. I still don't undertand how this went in. that goal was totally nuts. Also, I really enjoyed the Jose Mourinho power slide celebration from that game. He's definitely not one to shy away from showing his emotions during match, good or bad, he's wears them on his sleeve. You must be referring to this one

  8. Give me this Trevor Sinclair goal any time. I see you Sinclair and raise you a This one was actually only about a month ago. I'd heard about that, but hadn't seen it - so thanks. I'll stick with Sinclair, just because the technique to hit it - imagine the pace its moving at, and the height and how far he is out, and he beats the keeper. Ronaldinho's special, though. I, too, think Sinclair's was more impressive. The distance from goal was amazing for that type of shot.

  10. That was a sick shot. To make it a little bitter sweet, Chelsea hit two shots off the wood work in extra time. But yeah, that shot was a screamer. I just saw the last 10 minutes of the game. How did Essien not score that goal? He was right there. My dad said it was a very good game. I'm still baffled Essien didn't bury that shot. I think it might have surprised him that he came to him so close. Here's the goal of the weekend, Matt Taylor of Portsmouth will an unbelievable goal. Notice the keeper he beat too. Essien's was amazing, especially considering the circumstances of the match, but Taylor's strike was amazing. As the announcer says, he's done it before too. A clip of David Beckham becoming an English legend with this shot.
  11. The Red Sox paid so they would have exclusive negotiating rights. Combining that with his lack of MLB service time, and there's no reason why he should make 10-12 million per year. Look at Ichiro for an example in the posting system, or any other pre-free agency player's contract. Why should the Red Sox pay market value when they already paid to exclusively negotiate? Exactly. Matsuzaka isn't a FA, so he shouldn't expect to get the same type of deal he would if he were a FA. The Red Sox dished out a boat load of money to get the exclusive rights. They shouldn't have to pay top dollar on top of that. IF Matsuzaka wants top dollar he should just wait 2 years and then become a FA. Did you change your name?
  12. wow. the saints are good. i love the look on bill parcells face when he's getting his butt handed to him. especially from one of his old assistants.

  14. Here's a clip of Michael Essien's strike in today's Chelsea-Arsenal match. Chelsea was down 1-0 in the 86th minute, until this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1lv8Ng3Bkc The replay from behind gives me goosebumps.
  15. If that happens, I'm guessing we'll have a very angry and unhappy Lance Briggs on our hands.
  16. no, in fact, today's Sun-Times says the deal is not even done yet.
  17. That's awesome. I had to follow Euro 2004 online so being able to watch the next one is excellent. Euro 2004 was an amazing storyline to follow and extremely frustrating it wasn't available on U.S. television. I still can't believe Greece won. It was available, you just had to shell out $150 for the whole thing. My buddy did it. What's it PPV? That's a lot of dough. I'd be curious to know how many people actually forked that over.
  18. Hmmm. Who is talking Cubs winning the World Series? I haven't heard it. If someone's talking Cubs WS in '07 they are sadly fooling themselves. John McDonawhatever has said, and was quoted saying: "The Cubs will win the WS in 2007." Seriously. Check. I don't think he said the Cubs would win the world series, I think he was talking about the goal of the organization, which would be to win teh world series. I don't think he predicted it though.

  20. Fantastic draw between Chelsea-Arsenal this morning. The draw puts Manchster United 8 pts clear of Chelsea, who has a game in hand. As a Chelsea supporter I'm not crazy about it, but the game itself was amazing, so I can live with a bigger deficet. Also, ESPN signed a contract with UEFA to broadcast Euro 2008. It will show all 31 games on its networks (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Classic.) Great news for fans of international soccer.
  21. if the 28 million is the true number. the deal went from bad to terrible. there is no way is value is at near $10 million per season, even if the market is inflated, he's way overpriced. Hendry is spending money like a GM who knows he's a short leash. If 2007 bombs, he'll be gone and he won't have to deal with some of these bad contracts he's signing players to.
  22. If Rex is bad in the first half on Monday, I think we'll see Griese leading the offense in the second half.
