    Sammy put up godly numbers and was loved until the numbers stopped coming. Latroy? He deserved what he got. Ramirez hasn't really been a target of the boo birds more so than any other player the last few seasons. Let's see if his leg injuries continue to be a problem along with his hussle before he gets booed. I think a lot of peolpe on this board are over reactive to way the media portrays players. you just wait. aramis is gonna sign for 13m a year or something and become the new scapegoat of the cubs. the media already hates his lack of hustle, they're gonna hate it more when he's the face of the franchise. Ramirez had better not start slow like in 2006. He'll be ridden hard by the media and the fans, his season will be overshadowed regardless of what he does.

    I e-mailed Couch the link and here's his reply. I guess he's oblivious to the fact that his article was utter crap. Maybe someone should email him the game logs that show most of ARam's homeruns were far from meaningless. What's his email, BTW? We've actually been exchanging e-mails back and forth about Ramirez and the Cubs in generally. I have to say his e-mails are much better than the original article. His e-mail is gcouch@suntimes.com

    It's been real, Lance. I hope you enjoy your time with the Redskins more than Holdman did. Word. I don't see Briggs returning at all. Its going to have been a major focus in the draft for next year. He's a solid player but not someone that I'd invest a major contract in.

    To echo some sentiments in this thread. I'd like to acquire Heilman if the price tag isn't too high. He's young, he's talented, he's been pitching out of the bullpen when he was groomed to be a starter. I'd like the move.

    Losing ARam can only be smoothed over if we get Cabrera and sign him to a Pujols-like contract. Other than that, I see little hope for this offseason if ARam is lost. We could get lucky taking a risk on a guy like Ensberg. I've thought about Ensberg as a replacement if Ramirez walks as well. My problem with the scenario is Hendry would look at his traditional stats from this past season and think he's not good, but if you take into account the rest of his numbers, he's still a productive 3B.

    pk's suck. i really don't like how the mls "playoffs" work. the regular season is too long to make these 3 rounds of games to determine the winner. at least use away goals to determine the winner in a tie.

    How does the NFL working with having an MLB contract? Can Samardzija see where he gets drafted and the decided to still play baseball? Or does he have to declare which sport he'll play? If he's gonna wait and see where he gets drafted to decide, I can see plenty of NFL teams passing because of the risk that he'll never play for them.
