  1. Larry Fitzgerald is out at least 2 weeks.
  2. keeping Dominick Davis in my keeper league.
  3. wasn't that the stone-baker interview, which was the beginning of the end of stone with the cubs.
  4. i'm getting ready to leave for the game. i hope the bears win big.
  5. I see the Cubs having on interest in getting Rodriguez for one simple reason. A-Rod has develop a reputation in NY for being "unclutch". Hendry has mentioned repeatedly that one of the biggest problems the Cubs had this seasons was the inability to get the big hit with runners on base. I think the simple-minded Hendry would take hold of A-Rod' reputation as "unclutch" and completely ignore the possibility of acquiring him.
  6. Here's a piece from Don Pierson in today's Tribune. He's pimping Grossman for "Early MVP".
  7. Sportscenter was showing Hunter's misplay on the inside the park homerun. They showed the last time an A's player hit one, it was Ray Durham two years ago. They aired a replay of that one too, Hunter misplayed the ball and it scooted all the way to the CF fence. The other two outfielders are scrambling to pick it up. One of them does and throws an 8 hopper to the shortstop. I knew who it was without a second thought. I just laughed, and then I got sad.
  8. I sure hope Hendry and Co. aren't counting on Lee to put up 2005-like numbers in 2007. Its going to be nearly impossible for him to repeat them. All the more reason why the OF needs to be improved tremendously.
  9. Most of these guys should have been gone after the 2005 debacle or at least mid-season this year.
  10. Is it possible Hendry is looking at a potential new manager that is involved in the playoffs and must wait until November for a hiring?
  11. please no let down this week. i'll be at the game, so don't suck in person.
  12. Mike Murphy is going to have a field day tomorrow.
  13. wow. didn't see this coming. keep cleaning home tribsters.
  14. i hate waiting around for sunday night bear games.
  15. I didn't think class acts take HGH?
  16. Can he be any more vague?
  17. There's an absolutely amazing photograph on the front page of Tuesday's Tribune. The only copy of it that I could find on-line is from the Cleveland Plain-Dealer website. I'm not nearly computer savvy enough to post it here nor link it directly. Click here to see a small version of it. You can also click it to see an enlarged copy. I'd love it if somebody could post it here or find another copy of it.
  18. Honestly, how bad is Cedric Benson at pass blocking? Has he played enough to prove either way that he can pick up a blitzing linebacker? Any Univ. of Texas fans have any insight on his pass blocking while in college? Did he have many opportunities in the pre-season or last year? It seems to me that its become a known fact that Cedric Benson cannot be in when the Bears would possibly be passing it because he can't block. To make a baseball comparison, it sounds like a baseball player's defensive reputation. Many ballplayer develop the reputation as a good defender because of their managers, GM's, media or whatever keep saying their good at defense. After awhile it doesn't matter if they're actually good at defense or not, the reputation is what is held as truth. Benson has been pigeoned holed as a bad blocker, but I'm not convinced that's the truth. How about working on it at practice, or mini-camp, or training camp or whatever. He's only a 2nd year player, he can still learn the skills he'll need to be a successful everyday down back in the NFL.
  19. My initial take on the game: -O-Line was terrible today. No running game, although that falls at the feet of Ron Turner too. Olin Kruetz continues to prove to me how overrated he really is. -Grossman bouncing back in the 4th quarter after a pretty bad game. Reporters and experts mention his "moxy" or whatever buzz word you want to use to describe Grossman. But today I think Rex showed what all those people had been talking about. -The tackling of the defense was atrocious. I'm scared to think of what Alexander would be able to do if they Bears continue to not wrap up ball carriers and continue to try to strip the ball every play. -Robbie Gould has quietly become a very reliable kicker, if he gets tested from 50+ yards out, hopefully he steps up and continues his consistent performance. -Overall, a win is a win. Not a pretty game, but I'll take a victory over a division opponent on the road anytime. Bring on the Seahawks.
  20. The last time the Bears played on Sunday Night Football was the Grossman 2nd half appearance game vs. Atlanta last year.
  21. Hester's been bad the last two games. He's trying to make something happening when there are simply no lanes to run in. He needs to realize in the NFL you can't simply make plays because of your speed, most other guys are fast too. Maybe getting that TD return is actually more of a negative because he's not heading north-south, instead its east-west with spins and jukes for 4 yard returns.
