    They’ve allowed 4+ runs in 55% of games, with only 9 games of allowing 10+ runs. Not sure where that ranks but the run distribution is why they’re tied for the 3rd will card with a run differential almost 80 runs higher than the others combined.

    This game came down to Pete stranding 7 base runners. Pete is above this. Nothing is beneath is the pitching staff, so allowing 6 runs is par for the course.

    Dawson was 22nd in OPS, PCA is 2nd in OPS. WAR is adjusted for era and year. You can’t subtract war from a 900 OPS hitter in 2026 and give it to McGuire in 98 because he hit 70 homers, the cumulative league win percentage would be over 500, which is impossible. If you’re on the topic of RBIs and plate appearances then penalizing PCA for less RBIs as a leadoff hitter is unfair too. And If we’re awarding war and run value for RBIs, then how do you propose balancing run value? Subtract war from the baserunners who got on base and were driven in? Subtract war from guys who strikeout with the bases loaded?

    It’s like saying that Eli Manning was a better quarterback than John Elway. They have the same number of rings and Eli blows him away in all passing metrics. It’s not a 1:1 comparison either because Pete is having a better season statistically independent of era.

    One will help him accrue 11 war and break the Cubs single season record more than stolen bases. 11 war is rarer than 40-40 seasons. Acuna went 40/70 and Ohtani went 50/60? It’s an opinion so there’s no wrong answer.
