Odunze was open in the corner of the end zone, Monangai on a crossing route, had a running lane too so I’m assuming DJ was his first read and he already had his mind made up.
He’s got all the tools a quarterback needs. Moore, Odunze, Loveland, Kmet, a top 10 pass blocking unit and Ben Johnson who’s considered one of the greatest offensive play calling HC prospects since Kyle shannahan.
Trading for Claypool is his masterpiece. By design he knew he’d have top 35 pick by blowing up the roster and if Claypool is worth a damn then you win a meaningless game and you’re stuck with the 3rd pick and no haul from the Panthers. Good thing after years of pissing away picks on Tyler Scott Velus Jones and 1 year rental Keenan Allen he said screw it and used 2 top 10 picks and pick 39 on pass catchers in the last 2 drafts. It’s also noteworthy his QB2 from the 24 draft was McCarthy.
It’s risky and even reckless to to invest 2 top 10 picks and pick 39 on pass catchers who are only as effective as the guy throwing the football, especially with an already deep unit. There’s needs everywhere, especially on the defensive line.
This team isn’t better than a fully healthy Ravens team quarterbacked by Huntley, especially with the secondary injuries and a quarterback who’s proving his detractors right week after week.
They’re down to Mcloud and Wright and you can’t blitz with the threat of Henry. This game is on Caleb’s shoulders, especially if the defense can’t force 4 turnoversz. Should’ve called a time out on third down too.
Tanner Scott could bounce back next year and be that lockdown closer they paid him to be for all we know, much like Kimbrel for the Cubs in 2020-21. Not sure how this volatility will effect Keller or Palencia next season but at least they haven’t had the injury setbacks that derailed Alzaloy and Hodge.
