  1. I’ll be really pissed if this wasn’t his last start as a Cub.
  2. Two potentially avoidable losses this week. Really aggravating.
  3. What would the score be with Assad on the mound instead? Had a chance to sweep a team in the wild card race and pissed it away.
  4. Sure. If the cubs are up by 10+ with a couple of innings left then I’m 70% confident that he’ll hold the other team to 9.
  5. Completely unnecessary to start him in the first place and basically forfeit the game before it started.
  6. End the Taillon experiment already. Is Civale on the active roster? If so, he should’ve pi to he’d the final 3 innings last night.
  7. Anyone pumped for a Michael Wacha trade?
  8. Not only that, Jed went after Bregman before Shaw took a major league at bat 2 off-seasons ago. So now they’re stuck finding him a position to play in the outfield until they find a trade partner for a pitcher they like, they’re auditioning for a corner outfield spot in 2027, turn him into a career utility guy with control if they can’t get the value they want, maybe Jed just really really likes Bregman. I have no idea but none of these are signs that they’re confident in Shaw, and extending Nico was the cherry on top. The whole thing is odd.
  9. Does Shaw even have a big enough sample size to say that he doesn’t have the bat, just in general?
  10. Taillon has allowed 10 earned runs in 11 IP versus the Pirates this year. Ashcraft has allowed 2 earned find in 11.1 IP against the Cubs. Those 2 wins were huge. Possibly Taillon’s last start.
  11. We’re almost a week away from the trade deadline, if he gets shelled today, I can’t imagine he’s not DFAd by then.
  12. Pirates are also very split heavy with a 114 wRC+ versus righties and a 92 versus lefties. The rotation was lined up perfectly for the series. Getting those 2 wins in were huge with Taillon going today.
  13. Would the market for Skubal dictate the price tag? If the Tigers decide to hold onto him then you’d think he’d have more suitors and more teams bidding. Maybe not significantly.
  14. I give him horsefeathers, but Shota is a really likable dude.
  15. Huge to take the first 2 with the righty mashing Pirates set to face Taillon of all people. Why is Pittsburgh throwing off speed stuff to PCA who clobbers breaking pitches with a pitching staff full of upper 90’s flame throwers?
  16. If Amaya wasn’t so damn slow, he might have his second cycle this year.
  17. Good team effort, Swanson and Amaya are the only guys who haven’t struck out yet but they only have 1 at bat each. They got this.
  18. Their defense sucks. The Cubs have roughly equal defensive run value to the other 5 teams with an above average run value combined. The Phillies and Cubs have the exact same team ERA despite a 12 war gap in pitching. Imanaga, Rea and Peterson can’t be trusted, someone of Boyd’s caliber is enough to effectively limit runs and go toe to toe with one of those starting pitchers. .
  19. And he gets no credit for that IBB that led to the game winning 3rd run.
  20. The Cubs defense is worth 1.3 runs fewer than the other 5 teams combined with a positive defensive run value. Something to keep in mind every time the offense has a bad night on the rare occasion that it’s a low scoring win like last night.
  21. Disgraceful horsefeathers from the bats since Wednesday.
