If there’s ever a wake up call for Jed it’s facing the team with the second best AL record lining up Fried and Cols against David Peterson and Collin Rea, with Tarik with the possibility of facing Skubal Tomorrow. Nothing wrong with a rental as a plan b.

Sure, they could also be trying to cash in on an aging core. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s hard to imagine they wouldn’t top whatever counter offer form any of the other bidders unless Milwaukee threw in Jesus Made.

Right, but there’s no future ramifications for the Dodgers like for the Brewers and Rays, and unfortunately the Cubs to a way lesser extent. It’s not the Dodgers problem, it’s the reality of why no one topped their offer. I think anyways.

The Dodgers can. There’s no concern whatsoever for cost controlled talent either for them. In order to land Skubal and almost guarantee a 3 peat, they offered Detroit a package that they couldn’t refuse. Take the Dodgers who are a unicorn out of the picture and the package is lighter. I don’t think Skubal will impact the market a whole lot.

Sure, as a centerpiece in a trade for Detmers you absolutely trade him. But a 115 wRC+ bat, whether it’s from slug or simply a high batting average is still a very solid even in the outfield. Whether or not that what he’ll become he’s been a tease.

The Dodgers have no use for prospects because none of them will see playing time in the near future anyways, they have the luxury of throwing in top 100 prospects to almost guarantee a 3 peat.

I’m a prisoner of the moment but I’m hesitant to trade Ramirez and especially for a rental. He’s helping a win now team…. win now. Wiggins is a 24 YO prospect who can’t stay healthy and the last thing I want is another Alcantara who you waited too long to move. As Counterproductive as it is, in addition to the other names.

The Dodgers are making George Steinbrenners Yankees look like the Ricketts owned Cubs. The competitive balance is horsefeathered. Ohtani will receive $680 of his $700 million between 2034 and the 2040’s and none of it will impact their payroll or have any LT implications. It’s ridiculous. He’s $680 of their $1 billion of deferred money owed too.

PCA also has a 194 wRC+ with RISP and a 165 wRC+ in high leverage situations and second in baseball in WPA too. He’s a 6 tool player if being clutch is a skill.

Baseball is weird like that. One day you get humiliated by a mediocre pitcher like Will Warren and the next day you also get humiliated by a good pitcher like Max Fried.

Sure. Their 6.4 rpg average during their latest 27-12 stretch was no more sustainable than their 6.2 runs/game stretch during their previous 27-12 stretch. They followed it with a 16 game stretch of scoring 40 total runs. So which follows, another 16 game stretch with some stabilization to their current 110 game scoring rate, averaging a more modest 5.2 runs/game? Maybe a slight drop off to 4.5? A total faceplant? Their batted ball luck is due for regression so it’s not terribly surprising that they’ve had a rough few games. PCA will be the key. He’s carried this lineup for 2 months. So if he can sustain his 150 wRC+ then we won’t see anywhere near the same degree of regression.
