  1. They’ve been getting their asses kicked when they do lose, which hasn’t been very often lately. Not a fan of losing 6-0 in a Leiter vs Cabrera matchup either.
  2. I know his salary and control through 2027 is an obstacle but I wonder if Degrom will be shopped.
  3. Yeah. Long is blocked this year and unless he can learn to play a corner outfield spot he’ll he blocked as a DH too with Mo being the long term solution. Sure they could split time but it he’s involved in a package for Peralta with Alcantara and another piece then you pull the trigger. Trading Shaw makes the team worse than trading blocked prospects if you care about 2026.
  4. Trading Shaw also makes this team worse in a year with World Series aspirations or at least a lot worse than if you’d trade blocked prospects like Alcantara for example. Trading Shaw is a non starter for me. Alcantara, Long, and Ramirez or Rojas would make a lot more sense for not only 2026 but beyond with a blocked infield and likely only one corner outfield spot to fill next year if Happ and Suzuki both walk, and I think at least one of them will be a Cub next season.
  5. Not just 2 10 game winning streaks in the first 40 games but consecutive 10 game winning streaks sandwiched between a 3 game losing streak. Has this happened before?
  6. It won’t get any easier against Randall Grichuk and the Whitesox.
  7. It’s remarkable how PCA is on pace for over 6 fWAR with a 99 wRC+. No one else in the top 30 is under a 120. His catch probability on balls at 20% are 90%+ for him. Bregman’s getting jammed way too often. I hope it’s not a bat speed issue anymore than the previous few seasons.
  8. The day Bobby Bonilla gets his last paycheck from the Mets will be the day that people stop suggesting that their favorite team signs him.
  9. Have the pitch counts been higher than average for our starting pitchers?
  10. With 7 game winning streak and an already wounded bullpen, it’s less than ideal for 5 of the 7 wins to end within 2 runs with 4 being one one run wins, further taxing the bullpen. Not complaining but the leverage spots got in more work than ideal especially with the Boyd injury. Although credit to Counsell for limiting the innings of our best arms.
  11. They definitely see something in him. Someone who can burn garbage time innings much like Flexen and an upgrade over Corbin Martin.
  12. I owe Conforto an apology for lumping him in with Turner and Hosmer.
  13. Making the Reds lose in agonizing fashion was fun. I’d prefer a drama free 12-1 win.
  14. Right. Do we know when Wiggins will be at least?
  15. What’s the word on Wiggins and Wicks? Cabrera is also an injury risk so it’s great that they’ve knocked off these wins before they start treading water with the injuries. I’d rather have Brown in the rotation if he’s only pitching every 3-4 days when Thielbar returns with Assad eating innings in blowouts.
  16. Commenters on Red Repoter are blaming the Cubs late inning magic on Bregman orchestrating some kind of cheating ring involving having cameras in the outfield bleachers to decode signs. Those dumb mother horsefeathers forget that pitch com exists to prevent that very thing from happening.
  17. I’m glad the injuries haven’t bit them in the ass yet and they’ve knocked off these wins. Once the magic wears off they might up treading water for for a month+ if the rotation injuries keep piling up. If they finish 65-60 the rest of the way they’ll make the playoffs. kind of remarkable how they’ve won 18/21 allowing 4.1 runs/game.
  18. They had 7 walk off wins all of last year. They already have 6.
  19. That’s ballsy walking Suzuki to set up that walk off there.
  20. Why even have Palencia on the ML sister if he’s only available every 5 days.
