  1. Conservatively Suzuki will at least be in the 3’s now that he’ll get playing time in the outfield.
  2. Are they planning on keeping around Alcantara and Cassie to replace Suzuki and Happ or will either of them be used as part of a trade package to acquire a cost controlled starter like Cabrera? The timelines don’t align and if they’re in win now mode relying on rookies is a risky strategy whether it’s this year or 2027. If that’s the case then there should be no hesitation to pay a premium price for Valdez.
  3. Is it a sure thing Cassie is opening day DH and Mo develops in Iowa as a catcher or do you think there’s a possibility Cassie is packaged with other farm talent for a Edwards Cabrera or Gore? There’s a surplus of outfield options and Cassie is an unknown. I’m curious what their plans are when Happ and Suzuki are off the books. Alcantara slipped out of the top 100 and i’d trade him while he still has value. Tucker walking changes their win now urgency to an extent I’d think.
  4. We also have to assume we’re getting the same Justin Steele back before his surgery too. Valdez without question would transform this rotation but I’m afraid their ceiling is Cease and their floor is a Zach Gallen. Depending on Shotas future and if he walks, you’re still 5 deep and it’d be difficult to recruit another #3/#4 option with the possibility of losing a rotation spot when Steele returns.
  5. If Busch continues to sit vs lefties, free agent Paul Goldschmidt had a 981 OPS vs left handers last season and a career 1007.
  6. If the Cubs are in playoff contention and Happ and Suzuki are putting up their usual slash lines that would be surprising. The lack of right handed slug would also be a platoon disadvantage by moving Suzuki. If anyone is moved my guess is it’ll happen in the offseason.
  7. I’d be surprised too but what are the plans with Mo who can’t play a position? Happ and Suzuki are on the books for another season so unless a trade occurs there’s a surplus of outfielders and DH options and it doesn’t make a lot of sense to carry all 4 if you’re expecting sufficient playing time. That would require a lot of faith in Cassie if they get Happ to wave his NTC which is another half measure by the front office and another potential Shaw situation if he struggles out of the gate.
  8. That fits no one’s narrative. We don’t even need Tucker if we were 6th highest scoring offense without him for a month.
  9. Good point. Maybe we’re better off without Kyle Tucker after all.
  10. Because they dropped from 1st to 17th in runs scored.. A little regression is likely assuming PCA, the catcher position overachieved offensively and they’ll be without Tucker, which coincided with the slide around June and the dip. It could be offset by adding more arms and I’ll give the cubs credit for being a coin flip away from the NLCS.
  11. I was speaking about the runs/game since june. 17th in runs scored and 10th in wRC+. Jason gave me a good explanation but it’s in regards to previous comment about the 2026 outlook of the offense.
  12. I don’t like hearing that either. Bad luck is a harder pill to swallow than simply blaming a lack of scoring on bad hitters but I appreciate the explanation as always. Not to say that Passive aggressive, snarky comments isn’t constructive feedback but I prefer your approach. That was my intuitive guess.
  13. Can you elaborate? I can tell you how wOBA is calculated off the top of my head. I’m here to learn so teach me. I’m all eyes buddy. Humble me.
  14. We still have to assume this bullpen full of waiver wire pickups will be as effective too. But regression is a given and Happ and Swanson aren’t getting any younger either. People love pointing to their respectable wRC+ which doesn’t explain the large disconnect in runs scored exactly even with the park factor. They weren’t scoring away from wrigley either.
  15. I just don’t which direction they intend to take. Will Cassie be used as a trade chip or a contingency plan for Happ/Suzuki? Happ will be off the books next season and 30 so they’ll either find his replacement which will be a typical 4 year deal for maybe 12 wins or roll with these fringe top 50 prospects? Either way a 4 year $100 million deal for Cease seems par for the course. For a team so adamant on “2032” And “sustained success” their farm is relatively weak.
  16. Maybe they make a big blockbuster trade to acquire an Edward Cabrera for those precious fringe top 50 prospects but that’s counter intuitive to that sustained success. Maybe they’ll give Cease a medium length deal and call it an offseason but there’s a chance they go the route of reclamation projects like a Bieber/Buehler/or even Trevor Bauer who was a tad unlucky in the Japanese league.
  17. Assuming PCAs 30/30/30 season was an aberration you’re hoping he’s an average bat too, which is already a downgrade from his over performance in the first half. Kelly/McGuire/Amaya won’t combine for 30 homers and a mid 120’s wRC+, Tucker will walk and we know this entails slotting Bellesteros/Cassie in at DH…… That’s more regression too. Best case scenario is they sign a couple legitimate arms like a Valdez or Cease and maybe a lockdown pen arm. A major shake up from this complacent front office would shock me.
  18. Yes and no. Having players like Albert Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Holliday, Wainwright, Carpenter etc At least makes it easier to shrug off a David Feeese and Ryan Ludwick to an extent. Brewers don’t have that. Their star bats have consisted of a roided Braun and Yelich who became human when the league cracked down on electronic sign stealing, whether or not that’s coincidental. Their sole existence is to make us miserable. 4X pennant winners and 2X champs this century vs these piss ants who’ve won their fourth playoff round in their entire history.
  19. Cubs history is full of chokes and failure. Since they’ve been a competent Team over the last decade, most of the winning history in our lifetimes they’ve recorded, Milwaukee has been far and away the Cubs biggest obstacle. They’re also Packer fans. F ck them for ever. If it’s between them and the cardinals, Go Cardinals.
  20. Losing to these f cks just sours the season for me. I hope the Dodgers break the record for run differential in an NLCS 4 game sweep.
