The problem is they’re playing well and their fans are insufferable douche bags. It might be irrational to to be more invested in a 3 game series on the southside than any other inter league opponent, but nothing about being a sports fan is rational.

The issue here is the pitching staff can’t pick up a slumping offense. 11 of their last 21 wins the opponents have scored at least 4 runs i expect the bats to wake up again but I don’t see any improvement from the pitching staff until they regain health and or trade for a top of rotation starting pitcher now that the cupcakes are off the schedule. It would be nice if Busch can pick up his 15 home run pace.

For all his faults, I highly doubt it’s all Poles. It’s unlikely that Ben was begging for defensive line in the third round and Poles ignored him and drafted a receiver and tight end. -

He was held back as a freshman for not being able to grasp the playbook and wasn’t allowed to play in his first 9 games as a sophomore because of academic ineligibility. Draw your own conclusion. -

My Tin foil hat conspiracy is that they’re being punished by the league for stumbling over getting a stadium deal done. The lack of comp picks was a joke and selectively enforced in this one instance. -

Brewers Pirates and Cardinals have the 1, 3 and 4th ranked farm systems. LA is somehow number 2. -
The 2016 Cubs at the 40 game mark were 29-11, only 2 games better. Of course their run differential was +113 compared to +50 with 3 starting pitchers who received cy young votes and 2 top 5 finishers.

Nico was hitting 326 from September 1st of last year-may 1st in 65 games including the playoffs. It could be a neck issue or simply regression to the mean. Bregman has been the most disappointing.
