  1. They do boo Ricketts. That is why he missed a few years.
  2. They have signed Swanson and lost a draft pick. They gain one with Tucker, so I don’t think it is impossible.
  3. The problem is if they add Gallen they don’t have money for a big bat unless they go over the LT. Which is why a trade for a pitcher and signing at bat is more likely if they are going to add 2 pieces.
  4. The goal is to make the playoffs. Period. After that anything can happen. But 86 isn’t good enough. Need to build a team that should win 90.
  5. No doubt Shaw is better. But Alcantara for Cabrera might be light for the Marlins. I would rather just add either Brown, Wicks, or Assad to the deal and see if that got it done. But if additional players from each side had to be added, I would think those add ons would have to favor the Marlins. You are most likely correct, Shaw and Sanoja added slants it too much to the Marlins.
  6. Just because people mention guys doesn’t mean they have him penciled onto the team. They are just making suggestions. We don’t have to be reminded every time we make a suggestion of how inept some people perceive our FO to be.
  7. I wouldn’t trade Shaw. Use Cassie or Alcantara and add Brown, Wicks OR Assad(pick one) to get a pitcher. If you have to add on, then no one in the teams top 10 prospects. That should get a decent controlled starting pitcher.
  8. For one thing, this would make them better this year. And they would have someone IF they can’t extend Nico next year. Extending Nico does nothing to help 2026.
  9. Why is Sanoja upside a career backup but Shaw is too valuable to give up 6 years of control? They hit about the same last year and Sanoja is younger. They would get 5 years of control for him. I mean, I wouldn’t complicate the trade so much, but it isn’t a drastic overpay. I would rather just do Cassie or Alcantara for Cabrera and leave thr others out of the deal. But I don’t think the overpay is massive.
  10. Right. Either Bregman or Bichette to play 3rd. Then trade for Cabrera. Solid off season. Not likely, but it does work.
  11. I think if they got Bichette he would play 3rd, so he doesn’t have to be better than Nico. Unless, of course, Nico trade rumors turned out to be real.
  12. Gallen wouldn’t be my first choice, but I disagree that he doesn’t fit the narrative on improving the staff, I also would rather make a trade, but Gallen would be a solid pick up. Thr issue is they then won’t have enough to add a bat. And I don’t see many available in a trade.
  13. So losing out on Imai, Cubs had to have a plan B ready, right? So moves should start soon, if there are to be any.
  14. I think 40% chance as good is very optimistic.
  15. Yep, trade for a pitcher and sign a proven bat would be my preference. I am not optimistic the do that, however.
  16. Oh, I am not optimistic they do this. I am saying the need to in order to improve their team. I have little confidence they will do it.
  17. This is very possible. I think it is a BS excuse by ownership to not spend money. But it might be what they do.
  18. I think you could be right. But if it starts in year 3, fine. It is after one year that is crazy.
  19. If the Cubs don’t spend on a pitcher they better get one of the top 4 hitters available.
  20. Or for 1 year and he opts out.
  21. Is his posting fee $30M?
  22. So then $21M a year isn’t close to $16M a year.
  23. I read he gets $1M if he gets to 80 innings, another $1M at 90 and another at 100. Has that been reported incorrectly? Thr issue is the structure. Not the money, IMO.
  24. I wanted Imai too. But not if he can opt out after one year. That is a deal breaker to me and apparently the Cubs FO. I am fine with that. But now they need to do something else. There is time and players there. So let’s go!!!!!
  25. If that is your take on his actual deal compared to what you suggested, fine. Your right. You were very close. We just have to not pay any attention to the actual structure of the deal and then your guess was so, so close.
