    It is a bit of a problem today. I imagine Flexen is first out. Hopefully Horton can go 6. Maybe Flexen, Brasier and Keller for the last 3? I think Brasier will be available.

    Of Alcantara is good that is fine. But he has been brutal this year. Not sure I want to lose assets on another question mark.

    I mean you are obviously entitled to your own opinion so you won’t catch heat from me, but that chili sucks. Of course, that is just my opinion. 😬

    Exactly. And if you take the 8 runs Pressley gave up without getting an out, out of the equation the pen would probably be top 4 in the NL. They have not been nearly as bad as many suggest they have been.

    I absolutely like the Cubs chances tonight. I am just saying Marquez might not be terrible.

    With him it depends on costs. He isn’t worth giving up several solid prospects. And I think the Marlins will want a lot for him. I don’t necessarily agree that the Brewers or Cardinals won’t trade with the Cubs. If the Cubs give them the best deal they will trade with them. That said. I don’t expect a TOR starter added. I think it will be someone more in the MOR, BOR trade. Keller, Heaney, N. Martinez, Marquez, etc….Maybe if the Orioles stay down Eflin is an option.

    Marquez has been good in 2 of his last 3 starts. So don’t freak out if rhebCubs struggle to score. They may not, but if they do, remember he has pitched well against good teams this year.

    For starters, I am not suggesting they need to get a middle relief pitcher. If they can trade for a closer that is another story. Sure, Robertson was very good last year. But in ‘23 with Miami his era was 5 in 22 appearances. He is also 40 years old. There is just no guarantee he will be what he was last year. If there was, I completely agree with you that it is a no brainer for someone to sign him. Since no one is, maybe he either wants too much money or him being successful isn’t a no brainer. 🤷

    I don’t think it is that simple. If he is such a no brainer why didn’t the Phillies sign him when Alvarado was suspended? Short of a knock down closer I don’t see the need for the Cubs to add a pen arm.

    He did walk a guy. And that does suck. The hit he gave up was a 10 hop slow hit ball through the hole beteeen 3rd and SS. He was not exactly hit hard. He was replaced because Counsell wanted lefty against lefty.

    They are way below the LT at the moment. There isn’t any player they should have to worry about taking them over the LT line. As I said, I doubt they get anyone until near the trade deadline. At that point they would owe about 1/3 of his salary. Even someone making $25M would only cost them $8M+. The alt line shouldn’t be an issue.

    We are talking about something that probably has less than a 5% chance of even being discussed by the teams and even less of a chance of happening. I am fine agreeing to disagree.

    Good win. Who cares if it a game where they didn’t hit well and it was against a terrible team. All that matters is it is another W.

    I understand it from the Cubs perspective. But sometimes you have to think of the other team. Why would the Reds give up Lodolo now? I like Lodolo and Gore too. But to me it doesn’t make sense for either team to trade either of those guys. I have no opinion on Smith for the Cubs. But, again, don’t see why the Sox would trade him. I think the Cubs will be looking at Peralta(if Brewers continue to struggle) anyone from the Marlins, maybe Kikuchi, Eflin, N. Martinez, Keller, Heaney and I am sure a few others.

    Smith has 5 more years of control. The other two have 3 years. Unless it is a crazy overpay I don’t see it.

    Gore, Lodolo and Smith all have control left. No reason for a team to trade them.

    It is baseball. Nothing should shock anyone. Reese McQuire hit 2 homers off of left handed pitching yesterday. Who would predict that?

    He might not be available right now, but if the Brewers start falling out of the WC race by the deadline maybe Peralta becomes available. He would be a great addition.

    As a rule, I don’t want Suzuki on the bench with a lefty pitching. He is a DH today. He will be fine. I get giving him a day off. But not today.

    Besides being. a Cubs fan so obviously hoping the. Brewers lose all the time, another reason to hope they fall out of the race is maybe they will be open to trading Peralta. He would be the TOR starter the Cubs can really use. He has a team option next year but after that is a FA. Brewers are not afraid to trade top end guys. Last few years they have dealt Burnes, Hader and Williams.

    He has started dialed in before and had a few good starts. But he has also sucked after being dialed in for several innings. I believe he started well against the Phillies and then lost it. It just seems like at some point in the game he dominates and then when things go a little rough he falls apart completely. He is a very frustrating pitcher because he does have 2 really good pitches and probably one of the highest upsides on the team. When he is going good he looks great. But when he hits a bump he falls apart. I don’t see how he can start this week. Especially since it would be against the Reds again.

    I don’t think Counsell will be in a hurry to skip spits in the rotation. I think he likes giving guys an extra day. I also think most of the guys in this rotation need the extra day. I don’t see them skipping a spot in the rotation.

    He came out in the 1st inning the other day. He might not be healthy.

    I am traveling so I apologize for not being able to look through all comments. But how about a shout out for the Cubs pen. They have been great the entire trip. And really pretty good overall but for a few terrible innings. Could be much worse. We could have the Reds pen.

    Brown has to be sent down. He can’t start again. His next start would be against the Reds. That absolutely cannot happen. I guess Flexen is next guy to try in the rotation.🤷
