  1. Except he is left handed. I would think they would want a right handed bat for PCA every once in a while. But maybe not. Yes he is a good bench player.
  2. As much as we do? I guess so. I just don’t care who announces. Probably just me!
  3. I agree that Berti and Brujan are redundant. Get rid of one of them and get a right handed hitting outfielder who can play center.
  4. Len said he always wanted to do radio broadcasting. He wasn’t going to do it as long as Hughes was around. I don’t think it was him hating Marquee so much as it was he wanted to be the radio voice. As a side note, I find all this talk about the announcers silly. Who cares. Watch the damn game. Why does everything have to be critiqued? Not meant for you specifically. Just all the comments about announcing amaze me. This is a baseball site. Let’s talk baseball, not who announces it.
  5. Pretty weak line up today. But they did need to give PCA a day. This is a good one to give him. And, who knows? The line up will probably put up 8 runs today. It happens!!!! Hopefully Brown is good today. He fell apart in the 4th inning his last start against the Phillies.
  6. This is where I am with him. I would be way more worried he was fully back then I would limiting his innings. He is a high risk high reward sort of guy. I guess it depends on what the Cubs want to do. If they want a MOR guy they can target guys like Kelly, Mahler, Keller, Eflin, etc. But not sure which are available now. Pretty sure for the right deal Alcantara is available now.
  7. Not going through pages of posts. But if I failed to delete it one time, that is fine. Glad it was said anyway. There was once when I hit send and then didn’t see it get posted. Maybe I missed it, again that is fine. I also agree with gflore about being glad the cardinals lost. 👍
  8. I am not sure of his innings being limited. Is that a thing if the pitcher is fully back from TJS and has pitched over 180 innings previously? And even if it is the Cubs have the other pitchers who can work in and out and all have innings limited. When Imanaga comes back they would have Imanaga, Boyd, Taillon, Alcantara, Brown and Horton. And, if they have a good enough lead in the division they can spot Rea from time to time. If Alcantara is healthy for the playoffs he adds a quality pitcher to the playoff rotation. I would be more worried about him back in form then I would be about limiting his innings. And, honestly, doesn’t have to be him either. I just want someone asap to replace Rea in the rotation. Not many available just yet. I doubt the Dbacks are ready to admit selling yet. Same with the Rangers. I am not sure what the Braves might do. If they made Sale available he would be a good get. Maybe Eflin or Keller are also available now. As for the others, I don’t see teams deciding to sell at this time.
  9. YES! Thank you. I have written and deleted this request several times. Glad someone else said it. We are all adults (I think).
  10. Alcantara with 6 shutout innings. Would be nice if he took Rea’s next start……
  11. I hate to say it, but I think Flexin should take Rea’s spot in the rotation if they don’t get a pitcher soon.
  12. It is also easy to now say you never loved the Howard pick. No one is going to dispute you and by what he has done since being drafted, you can claim you are right to have not liked it.
  13. I agree. I mean I am not sure the Braves will trade him, but if they did I think he would gladly come to Chicago. He played here for a long time. And I think he would take great pleasure in pitching for the Cubs and showing up the white sox.
  14. Honestly, even if they get swept in Phillie I am still very encouraged by the start of the season. They would still be playing at a 95 win pace. And every team does go through bad spells. It will not alarm me.
  15. I wouldn’t hold you breathe waiting on the Cubs releasing Turner. I think he will be here all year.
  16. There is absolutely no reason not to sign Tucker. Ricketts is going to have a hard time explaining himself if he doesn’t. Tucker is different than any other FA in the past. He is the Cubs FA to lose. He is here already and presumed to love it here. Ricketts can’t just say we tried but he wanted to play somewhere else. And besides this, they can afford him even with Ricketts stupid guidelines. If he is that hard up for money after signing Tucker he can trade either Happ or Suzuki and let whoever is still here after the trade deadline take a spot in the line up. Between Cassie, Alcantara, Ballesteros and Long one of them can take the spot of the guy the Cubs trade. Personally I don’t feel that is necessary, but if Ricketts thinks he needs to lower the team payroll that would be an option. Maybe if they traded for Alcantara or someone else who came with additional years but cost money, at this deadline, that would be something they can do to offset that pitchers money and Tucker.
  17. They are. But between them they have had maybe 10AB since Shaw came back. Actually 10 might be a high total. I don’t really see a place for Long unless someone gets injured.
  18. Really. I did not know that. I thought he just came back. Good to know.👍
  19. Cubs don’t win because of a scary pitcher. They win with a great line up and solid pitching. Sure, right now they don’t have that ace pitcher. And they probbaly will not when the playoffs start. But they can beat any scary pitcher in baseball. And a number of their pitchers can pitch a good game and hold a good line up down.
