  1. 👍I have the weather channel app and I use Wrigley zip code. My says 15% chance. 🤷 So who knows…..
  2. What are you seeing that makes you think there will be an issue playing this game without interruption? I see overcast with a 15% chance of rain. So not that likely.
  3. Wouldn’t Kriste and Roberts go before Flexen? Even if Brown is brought up for one of those guys, if the Cubs only add one pitcher wouldn’t the other guy go before Flexen?
  4. I think he will go Tuesday if they want him to face the Brewers after that one.
  5. My weather app is showing 15% chance of rain at Wrigley all afternoon. No real issues that I see.
  6. I think I would like to see the Cubs get the best rental pitcher they could without giving up a top 6-8 prospect on the team. That could be a guy like Kelly. Others to consider are Lugo, Soroka, Morton and even Gallen. I also would be ok with them adding a bench bat/3rd baseman as a rental as well. Probably not Suarez, since he might cost too much for a rental. But Castro would be a good pick up. They can add enough to win this year and still keep their best prospects if they stick with rentals. And unless Ryan or Gore are realistically available, I would rather do that then trade for just a decent pitcher (Keller, as an example) and have to lose a top 5 prospect just because they have control over him a few years.
  7. Agree with you on how I see the deadline. Definitely a pitcher or two. Maybe a bat. But I don’t think it will be a Shaw replacement. Might be Shaw insurance, bench help.
  8. You think twins will get more than Long for Castro, who is a rental? I doubt that. I think that is actually too much for Castro.
  9. He definitely stopped and then started heading toward 3rd again. PCA did slow down but that was because he was in position to catch the ball. I really don’t think PCA did anything INTENTIONALLY to fool the guy on second. But for some reason him stopping did give the runner the idea the ball was dropping. Which makes no sense at all to me. I was at the game and my seats were behind home plate. I had the same view as the runner. It was obvious to everyone around us the ball was going to be caught. As I said, PCA catching the ball in position to throw as quickly as possible was a very nice play by Pete. And he fired a strike to second. But I cannot give him credit for fooling the runner on purpose.
  10. 100% with you on this one. PCA didn’t do anything to deceive. Just a bone headed baserunning play. Listened to both the Red Sox announcers and the Cubs announcers, and saw the play live at the game. All agreed it was just a terrible read by the runner.
  11. What Pete did do very well is release the ball very quickly and accurately. I am sure Happ was yelling to throw to second. Pete was very quick to react after catching the ball.
  12. I do think the Cubs will win the central. But to suggest not even worrying about the Brewers sound like someone in denial. Fact is, they are a very good team. They can pitch and field and do enough offensively to be a scary team. Admitting concern over the Brewers isn’t disrespecting the Cubs or suggesting they are better than the Cubs. It is just acknowledging they have a good team. If this were the first time the Brewers “overachieved” their expectations I would agree that it won’t continue. But they have done the same thing for years. That said, they are not going to continue to play .700 ball, like they have for around 45 games now. But I don’t expect them to go away, either. Cubs might have to win 95 games and the season series to beat the Brewers. Which I think they can. But that doesn’t mean I am not worried about the Brewers.
  13. It was amazing. And because it was 99.9% certain he would be safe, he did slow down a little at the end. Great, awesome throw. But the runner helped him out there.
  14. I don’t think it is always about the movement and not speed. Lack of velo means he has to be perfect all the time. Yes, he could be good. But it is a lot harder without at least average velo.
  15. Stratos, I respect your opinion, but I was asking if anyone knew of a study in baseball that determines when a pitcher should expect regression. I just used Boyd as an example since he does have the innings if a typical 30-31 year old pitcher, not a 34 year old pitcher. I also doubt the Cubs extend him. But I did like Bertz idea of maybe making year 3(Cubs option year) a guarantee so that they lose one less guy after ‘26. That would be the longest I would consider with guarantees.
  16. I tend to side with banks here. It was an easy ball hit to PCA. I was at the game with a view from behind home plate. It was an obvious out. I have no idea what that runner saw. Total boneheaded play. Everyone around us was shocked he ran. Especially the Red Sox fan behind me.
  17. I thought he meant walks. Best case scenaround is Luke pitches the first inning and doesn’t give up a run. Then Brown goes 5 innings. See where they are after 6. Hopefully they are in the game.
  18. So 8 more games before the Brewers. Maybe gain 1.5 games and go into Milw with a 3 game lead. Take 2 of 3 and leave up 4. I would be very satisfied with that.
  19. A pen game, exclusively, would not lead to a well rested pen. Brown at least has a chance of giving them 5 innings, small as it may be. Then send him back down.
  20. Yuck! I don’t want to see a Little. But maybe Brown and Little replace Roberts and the last guy in the pen.
  21. Bertz, that would be awesome. And it might be a good call by you. They have Roberts and some other 30 yr old career minor leaguer in the pen. It would make a lot of sense to bring Brown back for that bullpen game.
  22. I agree they could have both pitched doing as you suggested. However it is obvious CC is trying to conserve some innings on those two guys. Give Imanaga an extra day and Boyd gets a decent break. I think we will see one more bullpen game against the white sox next weekend. That should be it assuming they do get a pitcher at the deadline.
  23. That isn’t happening. He signed a minor league deal and is not stretched out. I am sure he isn’t anything they actually count on.
  24. I believe if Boyd starts the Tuesday game it lines him up for the first game in the Brewers series. If he pitches then the rotation should be Boyd/Rea/Imanaga against the Brewers in Milw. This is assuming they don’t trade for a better pitcher. If they did, my guess is he would go against the Brewers instead of Rea.
