  1. Never seen Shota get hit so hard and it happened against the white sox of all teams
  2. Cabrera ERA+ since ‘23: 111, 87, 124 Assad: 140, 107 and a lost year from injury (although he was at 136 in 2022). the WAR and FIP is mostly similar. it doesn’t feel like enough of an upgrade for me personally. Great stuff but bad command.
  3. Anybody that wants Edward Cabrera - I challenge you to pull up his baseball reference page, then pull up Javier Assad's, and see who's been the better player since 2023 when healthy. Is that the guy you want to trade 3 great prospects for?
  4. Miami up 4-1 on Milwaukee in the 7th, with a chance to get another run. Barring a miracle from Milwaukee, Cubs could move into a tie with a win tonight.
  5. Yeah, that is true. Weird year in terms of the lack of trades.
  6. This is why waiting until the last minute of the deadline to make trades is dumb. There are guys that could have contributed immensely this last month or so
  7. The catchers this year have been a pleasant surprise
  8. Love to see a young player making adjustments. I thought maybe he could benefit from watching a vet for half a season but he is now taking that next step regardless. Amazing progress
  9. This is about to get a whole lot fun if he starts hitting
  10. The Brewers rotation is 5 deep and they have a very good pen too. They are a lot like those Rays teams we’ve seen over the years. I don’t think they have the star power to advance deep into the post season but it would not surprise me at all if the division race comes down to the last week. They are very solid. And if one accepts that they will also be active at the deadline for hitting, possibly even Suarez or a young piece from the Orioles, they suddenly do become a very dangerous team that can win the World Series. We shouldn’t underestimate them at all. They are a real threat. As of right now, tied with the 2nd best record in baseball - that’s no fluke. edit - typo
  11. It was mentioned on one of the broadcasts a few weeks ago that since end of May they were 27th-29th in a lot of statistics vs lefties. I'll have to go back and check the old game thread where me and Bertz had that convo for the specifics
  12. That's fair. The last one was just an emotional comment in the heat of the moment. I'm sure Pressly will be a valuable piece down the line.
  13. But when I suggest that the Cubs are a bottom 10 team vs LHP since end of May I'm told these sample sizes don't matter and we should look at the entire body of work. Pressly's entire body of work is just okay as a Cub. Some good, some bad. But not someone I want to see in a 1 run game in the 7th inning, just IMO. They have better options. He's also what, a year or two removed from being a closer and that's what he was brought here to be. So I think it's fair to say he's a little washed up. Calling him a bum is a bit much though, I can admit that.
  14. Here comes the speech cops again. I am not "consistently negative and pessimistic". I was pissed he blew the lead, which seemed entirely predictable given his inconsistent performance all year long
  15. If the Cubs want a cheap bullpen addition at the deadline, the guy they are facing right now is pretty intriguing. Been saying it in the trade thread for a while.
  16. The only way the Brewers lose is if the Cubs also lose. Laws of being a Cubs fan
  17. Pressly is a horsefeathers washed up bum. I feel bad for Horton.
