  1. I know this move probably makes the Cubs better but damn, I really don't want to lose Amaya. His breakout is for real. Especially for a rental like Cease.
  2. AJ Preller has the patience of a toddler. If that team had a better GM, they would have sucked for 1 year in order to have James Wood, CJ Abrams and Mackenzie Gore for the next 6 or 7. I mean, mercy. Jed looks like GM of the year next to that guy
  3. I really hope the Cubs get Sandy. He's been dominant in his last 2 starts and starting to look more and more like the guy that was a top 5 pitcher in baseball a few years back. He also adds a totally different dimension to this rotation - a guy with great velocity and pure "stuff"
  4. I agree, there is no chance the Cubs should dip into any major league piece that is actively contributing at an above average level. Let the Padres try to outsmart everyone - Cubs have a strong enough farm system where they can get it done without going crazy
  5. I've seen the idea floated around the fanbase on X, and also this article. https://cubbiescrib.com/shocking-cubs-trade-buzz-could-send-one-of-their-best-players-packing-01k0yma6daa8 I also believe I saw a similar article posted on the home page here at NSBB.
  6. If the Cubs trade Suzuki to get Cease I'll be horsefeathers livid
  7. Well the Cubs already have a top 3 offense in baseball and adding a guy that will hit over 45+ HRs - I think that makes a huge difference. The only part of this offense that looks average at times is against LHP - Suarez would have made a big difference there. I think Suarez helps a lot in the playoffs. Like to me, there is a massive difference between Shaw getting 20-25 ABs in a playoff series against the Phillies or Dodgers vs Suarez taking those ABs. And that can be the difference between a win and loss. Hopefully Shaw has turned a corner with his recent success and it becomes a moot point.
  8. I'm sure it'll be a fine move but I can't really get excited about a guy like Castro or Moncada when Suarez was available. That would have made this offense unstoppable. It seems like they will at least make a big pitching move though.
  9. *sigh* can't wait to watch this team struggle vs Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez in the playoffs because they put all their faith into a rookie. I wonder if Michael Busch will even start a single one of those games
  10. I'm just tired of the Carson Kelly/PCA cleanup hitter duo. I think a guy like Suarez lengthens the lineup even more. I know the Cubs have a great lineup already and it's a bit of a luxury but... they need to brace themselves for the real possibility that they might run into that excellent Phillies team in the playoffs. With all that great starting pitching, especially from the left side, a guy like Suarez can change the game with one swing. I'm not there yet with Shaw, even though he's been really good lately.
  11. Bargain Bin Jed? Lol. Jk. Decent move for a guy that can fill some innings in August and September
  12. 100% agree. Suarez is having his best season as a pro, a minor slump isn't enough reason for me not to want a guy who will hit 50+ HR and can slide into the cleanup spot seamlessly, crush LHP, comes up clutch, and who has playoff experience (and played well in those games). Worth mentioning that he has also destroyed the baseball at Wrigley Field in his career. He has more HR at Wrigley than any other visiting park
  13. That makes sense. As long as they get "their guy", I can continue being patient. I personally hope it's Alcantara + Kelly, or swing for the fences in Ryan.
  14. I would agree with that. It seems like the Cubs are saving their big pieces for a premier SP and my expectations are sky high now. I wouldn't be surprised if they get both Ryan and a guy like Kelly by tomorrow. Although, I can see Suarez going to Milwaukee.
  15. the Phils scare me, probably more than any NL team. I think the Cubs can beat anyone else when they are clicking
  16. I'd probably do it, as great as Wiggins is. Duran might just be the best closer in baseball and brings 2.5 years of control.
  17. But aside from starting pitching, they do need a bench hitter and a reliever. I thought maybe they'd lock in one of those minor type of moves by today. I guess there is still time.
  18. Phillies getting Duran is crazy. That will be a tough out for anyone that faces them in October.. Mets getting Helsley. Wild Only the Cubs aren't doing horsefeathers
  19. Ballesteros had the hit of the game. Bases loaded double changed everything. Cubs never looked back after that.
  20. I still can't believe PCA dropped that ball yesterday lol. Out of all the disappointment lately, that one might take the cake for me
  21. It's so horsefeathers Cubs that he missed that by an inch
