  1. side note, Taylor was a sneaky good pickup. He kept that inning alive with a good AB.
  2. anybody that votes Ohtani over PCA for MVP should lose their ability to vote... both for baseball awards and real elections
  3. I think so too. Not comparing him to Kyle Hendricks but I recall that he was that type of player where the ERA was always better than the under-the-radar stuff. I was also surprised to see him hit 96 on the gun last night. I also think he'd be even better if the Cubs stop shuffling him around to Iowa and the bullpen and just let him focus on that #5 starter role.
  4. Keeps the ball knee high for the most part, gets a ton of ground balls behind a great defense, and always had an uncanny ability to work around traffic. He's just a good pitcher who, for some reason, never got a fair chance to be the #5 starter. A role in which he could assume tomorrow and do a better job than Rea.
  5. That's how I feel too. If someone goes down, it should be Kelly. He's an interesting reclamation project or whatever but Assad is just a better pitcher at this point in time.
  6. my bad that's what I meant. Hopefully, he gets to stay but I agree... baseball can be cruel
  7. Any chance Assad avoids a DFA tomorrow? He doesn't deserve it...
  8. 2 hits tonight against 2 tough lefties - man it'll be fun to watch this kid play for the next decade +
  9. Assad has held his own against this lineup so far. 1 more clean inning out of him and he should get a standing ovation
  10. Can't really say enough good things about Pedro. Most exciting young hitter on this roster behind PCA
  11. Not surprised that Alcantara got optioned again. Cubs don't need 6 outfielders on the roster. But I'm more optimistic about Alcantara's future then I ever have been
  12. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rea piggy back off Holmes his next start. Surely he (Holmes) won't get more than 4 or 5 innings of work in his first game back.
  13. I'd be happy with Happ back on a 1-year deal or QO. That bat still plays against RHP. And gives Pedro one more year to get the hang of LF and major league hitting.
