Cabrera has only 1 season where he's pitched over 100 IP, he will never be a workhorse guy that can log 180 IP or 200 IP in a season. Essentially, they are gambling on him being elite elite for the 5 innings that he will pitch every 5 days. He's got great stuff but the results haven't been there consistently, and he's a constant durability concern.
He's prime Sonny Gray on his best day and more like Javier Assad on his worst. Heck of a price tag for a 27 year old who hasn't figured it out yet.
