  1. Thanks man. If I'm being honest, I can be too critical lol. The highs and lows of baseball. The whole narrative on this team could be different in 10 days and often I forget that
  2. I'm surprised the Cubs sent Assad down given the current injuries. Kind of a perfect option in that spot to try and get thru 2 innings and 1 ER or less.
  3. Yeah, the other side to my Craig Counsell beef is that they are missing like what, 3 or 4 starters. Hard for any team to overcome that.
  4. I on the other hand respect your opinions. I was surprised at the personal shot just because you disagreed with what I said. If you guys think I'm complaining too much then I'll dial it back. Otherwise I'm just voicing what 10 million other Cubs fans think
  5. I remember that Counsell didn't manage like this in the playoffs. We saw Palencia come into the 5th, 6th, innings. So hopefully you are right that it's just injuries and lack of options. I agree that they need to make a move and soon. I just hate feeling like the team doesn't have a sense of urgency on some days. Not complaining.
  6. Maybe the GM should get off his *** and make a move then?
  7. Oh great, it was a slow roller instead of a walk. I guess I'll start pretending Counsell is a good skipper now 😂
  8. I get that, I just can't help but to smirk at the fact that Collin Rea gets a longer leash from Counsell than Kyle Hendricks got from Joe Maddon. One being a WS manager with a legendary pitcher and the other being... Collin Rea. At least it didn't burn them tonight.
  9. Because he's Collin Rea In any event he could have taken him out after the HR, could have taken him out before the walk. If you dispute that Rea shouldn't have been taken out after 5 then fine, there were 2 opportunities to take him out before the 2nd run
  10. Another fun thing to do is to pretend Collin Rea is a good pitcher who should see a lineup for the 3rd time and then refuse to criticize the overpaid manager who makes the same mistake in seemingly every game
  11. but he's still Collin Rea and smart managers don't let mediocre pitchers see a lineup for the 3rd or 4th time. They should have taken his 5 solid innings and turned it over to the bullpen. Now it's a dog fight.
  12. He was at 84 pitches going into that inning, and that's already 84 pitches too many. They have a rested bullpen. Why does he always make the same mistake?
  13. Counsell always leaves Rea in 1 inning too long and the outcome is always predictable
  14. Phil Maton pitching a clean inning is as surprising as the win
  15. 3/4 of Jamo's seasons here have looked more or less like this. He's not good and hasn't been for the majority of his time in Chicago
  16. Jamo should retire and start a podcast, like every other former middle aged player with mid life crisis.
  17. Okay, I can agree with that. Sanches is just a stud though. One of the best pitchers in baseball. Like you mentioned, managers have an impact on younger talent and player development. I'm not liking the way they are handling Ballesteros and PCA.
  18. I have the right perspective. I already know that this team will likely make the playoffs as a wildcard. But unlike most of you, that doesn't get me excited. For a team of their payroll, that should be more like "the bare minimum". My expectations in year 6 of a GM is that the team is ready to contend for a WS. Or at a minimum, not get consistently outshined by teams with 1/2 their payroll. When Jim Hendry was in year 6, the Cubs were considered one of, if not the most dominant team in baseball that 2008 season. It just didn't work out. When Theo was in year 6, the Cubs had already won a chip. In year 6 of Jed, they can't even produce 1 star level talent or a team that can win their division.
  19. I mean are you really trying to argue that coaching doesn't matter in baseball 😂 that's just an insane position to me. Not something I believe at all. I guess we can agree to disagree. I'm not an MLB player or in a clubhouse but I do understand human psychology and the importance of accountability.
  20. Maybe he was just never as good as advertised? I'm pretty sure the guy who replaced him has won Manager of the Year in both seasons since Counsell left. He isn't a difference maker.
