  1. I wonder what my old weed dealer is up too
  2. So dumb to wait like this. What would they do if they get disconnected or their signal drops
  3. lol 3 minutes left and no major move. Castro and some no name bullpen guys don't get it done for me
  4. So much for the Rangers selling on Eovaldi. They've gone more all in than the Cubs!
  5. They'll probably come away with Merrill Kelly and call it a day
  6. With the way things are going, I'll just assume they'll get a stud big leaguer back for Cease. Probably someone they can slide into their lineup immediately and rake lol.
  7. The Cubs could get Mackenzie Gore and I still feel a bit sick to my stomach at how much better so many other teams have gotten. Obviously the Cubs have no control over that, but wow, kudos to the Mets, Padres and Astros for the moves they've made. They want it more
  8. It gives the appearance that these orgs care more about winning than the Cubs front office does
  9. It'll be pandemonium on here if the Cubs don't make another significant move or two
  10. Some of these teams are not horsefeathers around. At least we got Soroka (okay I'll stop being sarcastic now)
  11. Something better change soon, otherwise I'll never forget that this was the deadline where the Reds were more aggressive than the Cubs
  12. Oh yeah you are right. Guerrero 14 years/500 million. Tucker has no excuse now not to take that.. LOL. Jk. My fear is less so that the Cubs won't make a very competitive offer and more so a desperate team like the Yanks and Red Sox getting involved.
  13. I'd easily do the Guerrero deal for Tucker. 10 years 500 million. That seems fair enough for both sides
  14. He's a stud. Great bat. He's a plug and play DH with upside as a catcher. Wish the Cubs had a spot for him but they are already very lefty heavy.
  15. I didn't realize he was that good against lefties. That would be a very shrewd move.
  16. IMO, we should have been too. Maybe they can still snag a better 1st base platoon for Busch?
  17. To me though, both Ranger and Sanchez are on a different level than what we have in the rotation. If the Cubs get Gore though, that would make us very Phillies-like.
  18. It's not a unique problem, but that's what made the opportunity so unique to me. They could have truly trotted out a super team offensively. Like I mentioned I'm just scared of the Phillies and all those lefties. In that scenario, Busch is probably hitting the bench - so they could have used another guy with some pop
  19. His power, plays in October though. Like if the Cubs played a best of 7 in October, your expectation would be that Suarez would hit at least 1 or 2 home runs in that series right? Would you have the same expectation for the rookie?
  20. If the Cubs think Cade's changeup is for real than I wouldn't make that trade, even for Gore. Cade has a chance to be even better than Gore down the line. However - the Nats can take Caissie++ for Gore.
  21. That's undoubtedly true, but his profile is the type that can have massive success in the playoffs. Nobody wants to pitch to a guy that can put one in the seats when the bases are loaded and there are 2 outs in the 6th inning. That potential walk or home run compared to a ground out to 2nd base can change the entire series. If Shaw struggles in the playoffs, most of us will say or think "yeah well, he's a rookie and that was expected". But with Eugenio, it raises the bar. We'd all expect him to perform
  22. Between Swanson and Nico though, the Cubs have plenty of guys right now that get most of their value from their defense and base running. Suarez would have diversified the lineup a bit.
  23. That is true. He is certainly good at scouting, drafting and developing. But some of these trades are so mind boggling. He has too much of a gamblers mentality.
  24. I don't think I am personally. He's a 2x all-star having a career year and the commitment would have been short term. And this year, he's a potential 5 WAR player on pace for 140+ OPS+, on pace for 45-50 bombs. He's also played for less teams than Juan Soto has - so I don't think him 'bouncing around' is indicative of his talent level. I don't think he's a superstar or anything and surely not a guy I'd extend - but he's on a different level than Shaw. Shaw will be lucky to have 1 future season where he hits 40 bombs with a .900 OPS and produces a 5 WAR season
