  1. Shaw is really making a case for himself these last 10 days. Maybe this changes their trade deadline plans a bit.
  2. I've heard chatter about the Cubs looking at 2 starters, like a big fish and then someone like Houser. I think Cade's recent performance puts all that talk to rest. Just get 1 big fish like Ryan and this rotation is really damn good when Taillon gets back
  3. Civale was at 69 pitches and they took him out? I’ll take it
  4. If the Cubs could just get a couple runs, this would be such an enjoyable game. Horton is spinning a gem
  5. Have a feeling the offense will show up in a big way next inning, when these guys get their 2nd look at Civale
  6. Ryan and Gore get an A if they pull that off. If they get Suarez and either Kelly or Gallen, I'd give that an A- too. Any scenario where they trade major piece(s) to get a closer like Clase, gets a C or D for me. I'd rather commit the big resources to a starter and go bargain shopping for BP help, then the other way around. I hope they come away with Sandy Alcantara, Suarez, and a decent reliever like Garrett Whitlock. That would get an A+ for me. Addresses every need and they can possibly pull it off without giving up Owen.
  7. I'd get onboard with Cabrera pretty quickly but he's just not my #1 or even my #3 option. I do recognize that he has elite stuff though and is still young enough to develop into something better than what he's shown to date. As you mentioned, it'll come down to cost. The last time I checked Owen was ranked between 50 and 60 as a top prospect and I personally wouldn't trade him for Cabrera, let alone adding any other piece. And that's surely where that conversation begins for Miami. Although, if they can make that deal for 2 guys that aren't Caissie and Wiggins, I'd have much more an appetite for Cabrera. I view him as a bit of a project still. From my perspective, they need a guy that they'd feel comfortable giving the ball too in a game 3 on the road in a hostile environment. Cabrera is a massive risk. I can easily see a scenario where he throws 5 walks and leaves in the 4th inning in that game. But like I said I recognize the upside is great.
  8. It’s not about Cabrera vs Assad, it’s about Cabrera vs what else they can get for him with those assets. I just used Javier as an example to show this isn’t some ace they would be getting. I personally wouldn’t want them to pay an ace’s price tag for a guy who I’m not sure will ever be an ace. If anything I’d be more inclined to get Sandy. There’s a strong track record there and somebody will fix him. And if it’s the Cubs that do, they have a top 10 pitcher in baseball for 2.5 years
  9. I'm just sad the Cubs can't get some runs and make it a competitive game. If this was a 6-3 game right now I'd have confidence they'd find a way. 6-0 just seems like asking for a miracle
  10. I hope I don't have to watch him in LF next season. They need to find a way to get rid of him
  11. They should bench Happ until he agrees to waive that no trade clause
  12. Swinging at the first pitch when the guy before was walked on 4 pitches is wild work. Although, he just missed it
