  1. Hahah not sure. I saw someone post his tweet earlier so when he updated with the redsox bit I just posted it in case.
  2. It feels like Soto to the Yankees is a foregone conclusion at this point. I don’t see them on Ohtani and I think Hal will go nuclear if they don’t get a few big names to appease that fan base. Makes Ohtani very important for us.
  3. Glad you’re here! I always remember you being a very nice and good poster over there. Let’s hope we make some new memories in the next week 😁
  4. Yeah man, Im still bitter about it to be honest. Many of us had been posting there for 15-20 years and stayed even when the site traffic went way down. Can’t remember if you’re a hawks fan, but during the start of the Kane/Toews era that hawks forum was popping. A few years later it was a ghost town. But on the cubs forum we held on and held on and then they give us four days notice. Really shabby site. Yet, with the winter meetings coming I can’t help but still reminisce and miss it.
  5. That was…something!
  6. Well, the dream was fun while it lasted, but we all knew deep down is was going to be the Dodgers…
  7. I’d say that takes them out of Yamamoto
  8. You nearly killed me! It was 1am and I thought you found Ohtani news somewhere 🤣🤣
  9. What happened?
  10. I remember Scherzer told reporters that one of the reasons he agreed to waive his ntc was because the Mets were “taking a step back” in 2024. But I did notice some rumblings on twitter within the last week of them maybe getting involved. I just can’t see them staying out of this. Having said that, I forgot to add the incumbent Angels in my team picks
  11. Who we thinking? Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Rangers, Red Sox? Maybe the Mets?
  12. I accept.
  13. Off with his head!
  14. Yeah, but once he agrees with a team it’s gonna leak somewhere.
  15. Blackhawks matinee, leftovers, obsessively checking twitter all afternoon. Not a bad way to spend a day.
  16. I can’t feel my legs
  17. Thanksgiving is over. Time to get down to business with the offseason! Feels like Ohtani could happen at any time now. I’m obsessed.
  18. Hmm, I don’t think it had to do with us “driving up the price”. I think Heyman just meant that we’re a real option to win this. Heyman, I feel, has been mentioning the cubs and Ohtani consistently.
  19. Yeah, I gotcha. My question was I thought the cubs currently had more money committed to next years roster. So my concern would be while we might be able to do Ohtani and lesser pieces, the dodgers might go for Ohtani and Yamamoto. This is all speculative of course. I’m just not super concerned about teams outside of LA (maybe Texas) and am kinda sizing them up compared to us.
  20. Don’t they also have less money on the books as of now too? Or have I made that up…
  21. No, I understand. And I’m basing this off a gut feeling only. It’s just that the dodgers have a more established roster right now. They enter every season projected to win their division and not just because the other teams suck. They’re just really well built. My concern is Ohtani couldn’t even win with Mike Trout. I don’t believe he’s seen playoffs in the major leagues. Is he gonna want a more sure thing? Cause, to me, that’s the dodgers and not us.
  22. It’s just not always true though, as you even said. There’s been instances of players taking less to play with their preferred team. Unfortunately for us, Heyward was even one of those cases. Just this week Nola was. With multiple instances of people saying Ohtani isn’t strictly money motivated I think he might have a preferred destination he’s willing to take less to play for. Of course, if someone just blows the field out of the water with an offer that’s one thing. But as we can all agree, there’s a general price it’s going to take to play poker here.
  23. I’m concerned Ohtani isn’t going to see our current team as much better than what he’s already been playing with and take the dodgers. That’s why it would nice to add a piece or two upfront. Unfortunately, that becomes hard when you aren’t sure if you’re gonna need to keep a hefty amount of payroll or Ohtani. Note: this isn’t me downplaying our prospects or saying we’re the Angels moving forward. I’m just worried he’s gonna see immediate World Series contenders with the dodgers and we’re gonna be left empty handed.
