  1. Damn. Knew it had to be one of them.
  2. Precursor to Ohtani?!
  3. I’ll counter that and raise you a Jake Peavy!
  4. At times, they strike me as a team the places a little too much value on nostalgia.
  5. Going back to the forum some of us came from there was a mlb forum and then sub forums for each team. Specifically, on the cubs forum, we’d usually have an off-season discussion and trade ideas thread where all the rumors would go and all the other teams signings would go in there as well. Then, if the cubs actually signed someone that might get its own thread but still, the main portion of that discussion would take place in the off-season and trade ideas thread. We had a winter meetings thread as well as traffic would increase at that time. Point being is that the information housed in one succinct place. This would allow long term conversations to happen and made for easy access to all the days rumors. Often what I would is is just leave the most active thread open and refresh it thought the day, knowing if anything at all happened I wouldn’t miss it that way. Openly admitting I know nothing about site traffic and all that, I must again mention that this way feels clunky and inconvenient. We have the slightest of Ohtani rumors going in their own thread now which to me, is just silly. Nothing is really happening yet but in order to discover the non-updates I have to click and read through three different threads. Again, I’m new here and not trying to force a change on longtime posters. But I can only say for myself, I’d probably be looking to find a different forum if it gets to the point where threads are scattered amongst sub-forums.
  6. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t gather user feedback and try to improve does it? If you want this site to continue to grow I think hearing from its current members is a good way to go about that.
  7. I, too, don’t get it. We have like four threads in the main cubs forum I have to check throughout the day. That, alone, is unnecessary when there hasn’t been an actual signing or trade for Soto or Ohtani. And now, Id have to go to a different part of the forum to read and reply to something (Nola) I care minimally about anyway? It’s a very weird and clunky way of doing things.
  8. 🤣 I’m just faking logic. I spent a part of my morning thinking about how we could fit Ohtani and Yamamoto salary wise on the team and still be add a good rp, and third baseman 🤣
  9. I feel like he’s a lock to go over 200mil. Maybe by a wide range. Nola had the familiarity with the Phillies that helped them avoid giving the most money. Yamamoto doesn’t have that and he’s got the Yankees and Red Sox interested.
  10. Yeah, I think it’s a player by player thing. If he really has his heart set on the dodgers for instance, I’m sure the taxes won’t be a “dealbreaker”. If he’s completely open to any and all teams it might be on the list of very tiny things that go into making such a large decision. I’m sure there’s factors well ahead of it, but it might feature somewhere on the list.
  11. So many predictions seemed to have him going to the cards. So I guess this is a plus in that regard. Personally, I never wanted him all that bad. I think we can spend that money better.
  12. That works. Was never really a fan of Nola
  13. Yeah, that’s a good point. Do you think the money they made off their World Series run offsets that at all?
  14. Yeah, I didn’t really think they’d do the level of deal necessary to get it done though. You just weren’t hearing about them at all either.
  15. Yeah, the never quite know how that’s gonna go right? I recall people trying to pitch to Lebron James the bulls and Jordan and topping what he did in the 90s and I believe there was speculation that it was a negative in the bulls attempts. Wasn’t overly concerned about the Mariners anyway as I still think the dodgers and rangers are the main problems. But one team down haha
  16. Same. Also, that’s the point of this time of year; take any remotely credible person and hold them to their word about Our favorite team 🤣 No, but it’s fun to post anything we find and speculate right now. I’m sure many of these people know nothing but they probably no more than us haha
  17. Think this is a piggyback tweet and never heard of this guy but that’s what November and December are for!
  18. I’ve conditioned myself that we’re not getting Ohtani already. So if it does happen it’ll be a huge boost. My worry is (with the suggested interest he has in Atlanta and spending his career on LAA teams that won nothing) he’s going to want to enter a situation and team that is already clearly in the World Series discussion. Dodgers, braves, rangers. I think the cubs and giants are gonna come out swinging but I really have a gut feeling one of those above organizations gets it done.
