  1. I think they’re just a better team. They were good enough to get in and make it to the World Series. Based on projections I’d say we either overachieved or were right in line with the most optimistic guesses. We certainly didn’t underachieve. Which says more about roster construction than management. I get it though. Hoyer wants to be Theo really bad though and wanted to duplicate the Joe move.
  2. I’m just not sure I see enough variance in manage to manger to make this change and spend all that extra money (which better damn well not be taken from payroll). David Ross didn’t sign Trey Mancini to a two year contract. David Ross didn’t sign Tucker Barnhart to a contract any normal person hated instantly when it was announced. Eric Hosmer being another. And the worst, Tallion who were both stuck with and sucks. Honestly, to me, it just feels like another desperate attempt for Jed to act like Theo and duplicate the Maddon/Renteria move. Having said that, I’m going to admit to being extremely biased here as I like David Ross and cannot stand Jed Hoyer as a baseball ops leader. I will shut up now.
  3. I don’t recall ever being this disgusted with a cubs team before. This is so gross.
  4. I hate everything about this team right now. We don’t deserve the third wild card.
  5. This might be the season here. 6-0 lead and we’re blowing it.
  6. Really happy with how the giants series went. We do seem to bounce back after occasional disappointing play. Really need this one too. Let’s go!
  7. Because we know who’s on the mound for us
  8. Yeah, he’s just never been that good. I just wish we could have outbid the Mets on Senga instead.
  9. I’ll never get over having a president of baseball ops that thought singing Jameson was a good idea.
  10. Sometimes this team is gross. This one of those times. We’ve done a great job handing the brewers the division though.
  11. Feels like our luck is about to run out in this series. The brewers are just better.
  12. Man, if we could steal this series things start to become very interesting.
  13. I don’t want to move anyone of consequence for this team. We have a rough schedule the next week and if it goes poorly we’re right back out of the race. Again. Moving any of our top prospects would only ever make sense in a deal that brings back a long term position of need, or a lateral prospect in said position. But for the love of god, don’t give up a ton for a rental to help this team barely miss the playoffs.
  14. I just don’t see them dishing out a long term deal for Bellinger. I think they’re probably comfortable with what’s coming through the system as far as outfield bats, plus Seiya and Happ are already signed. I could be way off base, but I don’t see us even attempting to resign him. I think he was strictly acquired to flip. Not saying I agree with this like of thinking mind you. That’s just my guess on that particular player.
  15. I think we should sell, sell, sell. Unless you want to extend Belli (they won’t) no point on trying to win it with this team. They just aren’t good enough. In other news, have you guys ever considered having a separate thread for all trade deadline news and rumors? That’s way it’s all in one place and you can pick up right where you left off in the morning.
  16. Anyone heading to the game on Tuesday night? Will be my first of the year.
