  1. Great series win. I apologize for underestimating the Cubs chances. They keep proving me wrong and I’ll take being wrong all day as long as we keep winning. This is fun. Go Cubs!!
  2. Great win. Glad to have Steele going tomorrow to try and steal this series.
  3. It’s why I trusted Jed had we sold at the deadline. He’s proven to nail this part of his job. Obviously translating to the majors is the next step and next year will be the beginning of that phase where we start judging based on making it to the majors and your production with some of our top guys beating on the door. I’m obviously not saying PCA has to come in and put up a 4 fWAR next year or Jed lost that trade. My point is he’s done incredible in trades, and drafting, and developing (not Jed specifically, but his coaches and development team) to this point.
  4. There’s a human element involved. If you’ve played any level of sports in your life, you know what I’m talking about. The extent of my baseball career was JUCO. I wasn’t really good, but I know we played harder against good teams and well known teams in the league than we did crappy teams. As hitters, it was natural to have a different mindset when we faced a pitcher that threw 94 with a 2 ERA than a pitcher that threw 84 with a 7 ERA. Point being I imagine the Braves were a little more amped up to play a surging Cubs team in front of a packed Wrigley crowd than a crappy White Sox team. It’s been said on here before and I feel like people ignore it, but things are never as good as they seem and they are never as bad as they seem. I still think we are mediocre. Our best performance can’t compete with the Braves best performance. Can we beat them on a given day? Sure. That doesn’t mean we are better than them. I expect them to sweep us. Maybe we have a shot Sunday with Steele pitching. I’m not trying to be negative, just taking my fan glasses off and calling it like I see it. I want the Cubs to win every game. I just don’t think this team is deep enough. It’s really 4 solid bats and the rest are decent enough. 1 very good starter, 1 solid starter, and the rest are pretty meh. 1 very good reliever and 2-3 more solid relievers. That’s about it.
  5. Meh. Doubt the intensity level was very high to face the White Sox. They are the best team in baseball and they kicked our ass today. Not really an excuse to be made.
  6. Beating up on bad teams and teams with horrible starting pitching for 3 weeks was fun, but we aren’t in the same league with the Braves. I had a feeling they were going to humble us real quick. Their offense rakes 1-9 and when they really turn it on, my god they are unstoppable.
  7. Lineup construction doesn’t matter in the grand scheme. It’s not worth getting mad about daily. Ross’ batting order is definitely not the way I would do it, but again, it doesn’t really matter.
  8. I think I let him stick in AA the rest of the year. He’s still one of the youngest players at that level. No need in rushing him. Let’s make sure he can sustain the lowered K rate over a longer period. He can get close to a full season of AAA next year and still be well ahead of schedule.
  9. Need this one with the best team in baseball touching down in Wrigley this weekend. The Braves rake.
  10. Apparently Jesse Rogers said this morning that the Yankees would have given up Jasson Dominguez + for Bellinger and that they were desperate for him. Dominguez is very intriguing and toolsy as hell, but he’s having a down year. He is just 20 in AA though. It doesn’t matter now, I just thought that was interesting.

  12. I don’t know. Just posted his line I saw on Twitter.
  13. I’ll take my chance with literally any LHP in our system over Kay. He’s gotta go.
  14. Kilian 6 scoreless with 6K’s tonight
  15. Jesse Rogers says no more moves for the cubs.
  16. Cerami has a serious source in the FO.
  17. I’m just ready for Sunday. Steele vs Strider. That’s going to be a fun one.
  18. I’d be good with that also.
  19. I’m not giving up PCA or Horton for Alonso. But I’d be willing to give them anybody else and a strong secondary piece. I’d give Alcantara and Ferris for example.
  20. We better not give up much for a platoon 3B.
  21. You have to take into account the LT angle. They aren’t going to go over it. Period. Not this year. Not for a team that’s really mediocre with a lot of holes. They are going to have to get creative to open up some wiggle room. Not much you can do when you only have $5M to play with. That might get you a decent reliever and a okay rental bat.
  22. Has he been playing since he hurt his shoulder?
  23. AZ Phil says don’t count out that possibility that Stroman could be scratched tonight and Kilian makes a spot start. Meaning if Stroman is scratched, he’s likely getting dealt, and obviously if not, he probably won’t get traded. I could absolutely see Jed trading Stroman and riding with Wesneski and still buying small pieces to help the rest of the way. Just throwing that out there. I wouldn’t imagine it happens though.
