  1. Interesting. I wonder if he’s a backup plan to Ohtani or if they will go hard after him either way?
  2. If I hadn’t taken multiple vacations this year, I would absolutely go. I’ve thought about it. I’m only a few hours from Nashville. I just think it would be a cool experience as a baseball fan regardless if I get to see or meet anybody notable. I’ve already spent my vacation budget for the year though lol
  3. I guess he’s technically right since we haven’t done a whole lot the last handful of years, but it seems like Jesse pours cold water on everything always.
  4. Agreed totally. There’s nothing wrong with kicking the tires and just seeing what the framework of a deal would look like. Maybe Jed is thinking “no way. Soto absolutely won’t extend and if I want him that bad, I’ll just get him in free agency next year for only money.” I still think for a team that needs stat power bats, that you’re doing a disservice for not at the very least checking in on one of the best young bats in the game. & maybe he has checked in and isn’t comfortable with the asking price for a 1 year rental, but I’m not sure I totally believe he’s done his due diligence here.
  5. I agree. I don’t trust Heyman’s reporting anyways. He’s really the only national reporter that’s talking about Ohtani. Considering the 100% fact that Ohtani and his people don’t want any leaks, I just don’t believe anything Heyman says, especially considering he’s constantly making updates. But this is just so random, that like how could you make it up? I don’t know… I just need Ohtani to decide one way or the other quickly because I’m hanging on to any update at this point and it’s driving me crazy lol
  6. Look I’m far far far from qualified to run a MLB team, but I’m smart enough to know that you don’t sign the best player in baseball and then turn around and trade 2 cheap young star players that are multiple years away from free agency. It’s not like the Blue Jays are a small market team either that don’t have money to spend. That actually blows my mind. That can’t be real.
  7. Why would you sign Ohtani and turn around and trade your 2 young stars? Why would you let that get out if you’re serious about signing Ohtani? I just don’t understand that.
  8. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, rival teams expect Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hit the trade block if general manager Ross Atkins is able to sign Ohtani. However, trades involving Bichette and Guerrero Jr. are considered unlikely if the Blue Jays can't bring in the reigning AL MVP.
  9. Heyman just released his Friday rumors article. Nothing new really. Re Ohtani: “Cubs and Giants are thought to be in big” along with the Dodger. He also said we are still looking at Belli but our focus is currently on Ohtani.
  10. Especially if he cares about winning like what’s been reported. The Rays are pretty consistently good. The Orioles have arrived and aren’t going away any time soon. The Yankees are the Yankees and seem to be making moves. The Red Sox are the Red Sox. I’m with you.. if it’s the Dodgers, fine. I get it. But we have a much easier path to perennial playoff team than the Jays.
  11. At one point, late in the offseason, the Phillies had the 3rd best odds to sign Harper. I wouldn’t discount Vegas odds, but I also wouldn’t let them worry me too much.
  12. Sorry. I didn’t mean those predictions were necessarily crazy. I meant there are some on his timeline that are pretty wild. I posted what I did because in half of his tweets he’s saying the Blue Jays for Ohtani, then in this one he predicts Ohtani to the Dodgers. Which is why I said he’s all over the place. Also, he seems like a super big Blue Jay fan who struggles with the English language. I’m not sure what he says is exactly what he means. For example, on the initial tweet, he commented below saying that he said it was his prediction, but nowhere in the initial tweet did he say it was his prediction.
  13. Going through his timeline, this dude is ALL over the place and has some crazy takes. Under the initial tweet, he responded with that was his “prediction.” I put zero credence into anything this guy says.
  14. I’m also wondering if the Cubs would like to strike a semi big deal soon before Ohtani signs to show him we are serious about adding around him and going all in with him should he choose us.
  15. Heyman says Ohtani *could* sign next week. Well duh Jon. I swear he just says stuff that’s likely true and leaves himself an out incase it ain’t true because he doesn’t really know.
  16. Morosi reporting Cease could be dealt before next week. Only mentioned the Braves as finalist. I’m sure they aren’t the only team, but they seem to be the favorites
  17. Right. Like they’ve been in discussion for days/weeks but they are just now discussing names? Lol no. Names were thrown out on the first phone call.
  18. IF Jed is set on pivoting to Soto should he miss on Ohtani, I doubt he just lets Soto go to the Yankees while he waits out Ohtani. I’d bet he tells SD to hold tight a few more days to see what happens with Ohtani first. At this point, Jed knows what it will take to get Ohtani, how close he is to deciding, and if he has a realistic shot to land him. I’m sure he also knows what it would take to get Soto as well. I’ll trust his judgment here assuming that he does want to do whatever it takes to walk away with one of Soto/Ohtani.
  19. Especially if the Yankees are truly out on Ohtani.
  20. Is that a new report or the same one this morning about Beiber and Glasnow?
  21. Tigers signed Kenta Maeda to a 2 year deal. I’m just glad to see that at least one GM has woke up from his Thanksgiving food coma. I was starting to get worried
  22. I don’t know man… I just think you’re reaching a little bit here. A lot of “ifs” and “maybes.” The fact is, Morel will never get better at 3rd if he doesn’t play there. He barely has played it in the minors and they didn’t play him there in the majors. I think it’s as simple as if they thought he could play it, then he would have by now. He hasn’t. That tells me what I need to know about how they view Morel at 3rd.
  23. Words are just words though. Until they actually show they will play him at 3rd, then they are just… words. Jed isn’t going to publicly say “Morel just isn’t good enough to play 3rd.” There is no literal upside to saying that. He had a golden opportunity to play him there this year and he chose to play a career 2b with a weak arm there instead.
  24. Spencer Strider is a fastball / slider guy 91% of the time.
  25. If they thought he could play 3rd, then that’s where he would have played. He didn’t even play there in AAA hardly (9 games) before he got called up this season. It’s obvious they don’t think he can play the position. If he’s awful defensively there, then the bat isn’t good enough to provide much value at all. He’s better served to DH. They are trying to tell us without actually telling us that he can’t play there. Obviously I’m not in the room, I’m just going by the facts we currently have. They very well might have a plan to play him there next season. But until they actually do it, I’m going to assume that just isn’t in the plans for Morel.
