  1. :-x I was looking for his name yesterday, when I made my 'Vote for Raisin' banner. I wanted 'Vote for Edward K'. I LOLed all over my keyboard! Does anyone remember the question that Edward K asked in that Cubs mailbag? I tried doing a google search, but came up empty.
  2. By the way, nice quote in your sig ;)
  3. Neifi Macias Rusch Donovan Osborne Carl Everett What? I like high draft picks! :D
  4. Dude, I'm still in for 4 bleacher seats for Sunday. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help (short of sending my private jet for you. . . carbon imprint and all :) )
  5. Frank Thomas hit number 500 in the first inning of the Blue Jays v. Minnesota! Go Big Hurt!
  6. I'm not sure who the loser in that trade is.
  7. people really like steve phillips here? wow. Yeah, I was just kidding when I put down his name.
  8. Gah, isn't it enough that we helped Sosa reach 600 and McGuire reach 62. I mean how much more can we be expected to do for baseball?
  9. Best GM not working today? Steve Phillips -ducks and runs-
  10. For those of you in Chicago, there is a big photo of the guy being taken off the field by security in today's Red Eye. And they give his name. I'll do you one better with a full story.
  11. link I didn't see anything listed in his profile about living in his mother's basement and never knowing a woman's touch. . . but I guess that's implied.
  12. Yeah, so much for adding onto payroll like Hendry has said over and over again. And we're pretty much stuck with Jones if Zell won't let the Cubs eat his contract. Fun times. As people have stated previously, I don't think this is Hendry's fault. And moreover, I don't think he knew about the inability to take on payroll until this deal. Talk about a wake-up call you don't want when your job is on the line.
  13. Page Not Found http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-0626marlins,0,5116352.story?coll=sfla-sports-front
  14. Boy, that Mike Schmidt sure does love the game, doesn't he?
  15. I'd be shocked if he went there only because I have read in several places that they won't meet Williams' likely asking price in terms of prospects. I'm still thinking Phillies. I would guess that the Phillies are gun shy trading pitchers from the Sox with the Freddy Garcia debacle.
  16. Um, why was Hawk so intent on getting guys "in a pickle"? What a load.
  17. Go to hell! That is the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen on this board. Seriously, it's the grounds fault? Please. There is nothing wrong with the field itself. I've walked on it, run through the diamond (as part of the Wrigley neighbord days) and that is the least of their worries.
  18. Any updates on this? I listened and the guy they had on there claimed the Cubs have been forbidden to take on more salary because of the impending sale. So basically the opposite of everything we have read. So, who knows? =D> =D> =D> =D> If that's true it really limits the amount of damage Hendry can do. He won't be able to trade for impact players unless he moves the likes of Jones, Howry, Dempster, and Eyre. Oh he won't be able to trade for impact players at all. Impact players come with a cost regardless of who you move and if he's not able to take on salary. . . oh forget it. This team's dead to me.
  19. The American flag after Sept. 11 was awesome. I was at that game as part of the pre-game ceremony honoring police, fire and rescue workers (I worked for the Red Cross so I got to be on the field for the ceremony) and sat in the bullpen box for the entire game. To say there wasn't a dry eye in the house was an understatement. In case it hasn't been mentioned yet, the first round of the HR Derby in Milwaukee where he was knocking everything 500 ft. And finally, my favorite for all the wrong reasons was the HR Derby in 2004 where he whiffed on a BP pitch.
  20. Can you blame the guy? He has to watch this team every day. We can tune in and out without worrying about it.
  21. Jacque for Gagne!!! or a basket of sunflower seeds
  22. Call me odd, but as great as the grand slam was against the Cards, the rest of the 2006 season dilutes that memory. However, punching AJ smackdab in the jaw was the most cathartic moment for me. That guy was asking for it for YEARS. I'm glad it was one of our guys who gave it to him.
