  1. I think Jim has a better idea of which prospects are going to plan out than others. I think he saw the writing on the wall with prospects who we all thought would make for, at minimum, solid players (i.e. Hill, Beltran, Harris, etc.) Maybe he's building up the prospects so that other clubs think they're really getting a steal when/if he eventually trades them. There's no reason to talk down or neglect your farm system if you believe at the least you have people other organizations would like to have. And specifically to your point about having rookies play, I think that has more to do with Dusty than Jim. I really believe that the Hollandsworth signing was based on Jim's premise that Dubois would get the majority of the playing time based on Hollandworth's everyday playing ability. Unfortunately for all of us, Jim underestimated Dusty's "veteran" fetish.
  2. How many MLB players have been raised in the Chicago area and succeeded in a Cubs uniform. Those only ones that I could think of are Kenny Lofton and Latroy Hawkins (and we know what happened with Latroy). Mark Mulder was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs and now is in St. Louis, but there aren't any more that I can think of? Anyone else have anything to add?
  3. How about we take both of them off the Yankees' hands and put them in the embracing warmth of "player's manager" Dusty Baker. They'll be back to being old friends in no time. Then we make A-Rod the starting shortstop and Jeter the back-up.
