  1. I've heard what MJ&H do, so I'm not clicking that link. There is nothing "great" about any of them I think they are a pretty good show. Easily one of the best in Chicago sports radio. Song parodies however are not there strength. This one was done by their producer I think though. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. . .
  2. Homer in the Gloaming has the most historical significance. Personal preference, I'm going with Ernie's 500. Not only did 500 mean more than it does today, he did it on a team that was 10,000 kinds of awful for the totality of his career.
  3. And Cabrera. Don't forget that we're trading Jacques and Yosh Kawano for Miggy. That's a key acquisition.
  4. Give me a break. A 38 year old adult kills himself doing coke (I'll rescind this if the toxiology shows anything different but I'm pretty confident given the circumstances and his wife's statements that it won't) and it doesn't change your opinion of him? A guy so self-centered and immature that he puts his need to get high and the related risks above his wife and young daughters? Yeah Shooter did some good things for AIDs but the stupid decisions he made which resulted in his wife becoming a window and two young girls being without a father make him less of a "good guy" in my book and definitely changed my opinion of him. While I certainly understand your view, I don't think you have any idea of what being an addict truly entails. It isn't as if an addict makes a choice to get high. It's a part of their brain structure, and even with rehab, it's a daily struggle some times. It doesn't make him a "bad guy" as you say. It makes him tragic because he couldn't stay on the wagon despite at least one publicized attempt at getting clean.
  5. More importantly, would MacPhail be able to talk Angelos into it? While Angelos is still the 800 lb. gorilla in the room, my understanding he hired MacPhail do make more of these organizational decisions.
  6. Rosenthal is now reportingthat the Braves are closing in on getting Dotel from the Royals. The Mets and Phillies better look out. With Tex and Dotel, the Braves have to be the frontrunner for the division.
  7. Maybe Jimbo was trying to throw up a smokescreen with the whole Jay Payton thing and scouts were really looking at Tejada's progress since coming off the DL. Keeping it under the radar is something he's good at.
  8. It's also Bruce Levine. He hasn't been right about trade rumors or Chicago baseball moves since he reported Brock for Broglio in 2002 (had to wait for official confirmation).
  9. The best sports reporting is on HBO. Between Inside the NFL, Real Sports and Costas Now, you'd be hard-pressed to find more investigative and feature pieces that show the behind the scenes of the sports world. That same episode the Schilling was on had an interview with one of Bonds "pharmacists" as well as waffling from Bud Selig. Meanwhile, ESPN has a town hall meeting on Bonds and The Bronx is Burning. :?
  10. Nice to see that the Yankees are now figuring out what most of baseall did two years ago. Damon was due to significantly drop offensively during the course of that contract.
  11. Pie would be stuck in AAA with the majority of starts going to Jacques. . . oh, wait.
  12. A more credible source. I hope there's enough room in the broadcast booth to fit both their egos.
  13. If that's the case, then they better not expect a high-level prospect.
  14. All excellent points, hence the "if" in my post. There isn't a clear-cut "Dear God, we need him now!" force out there on the trade market. I think that's true for all of the contending teams out there right now. Is Dye worth the risk? Yes, depending on what you give up. Currently, Floyd can barely walk, DeRosa has hammy issues and Jacques is our center fielder. If Williams is willing to lower his trade demands, we should take that risk.
  15. What if Dye is the extra bat we need to make the playoffs? Would E-Pat be worth it? The correct answer is: yes. With the emergence of Fontenot and the signing of DeRosa, I will gladly move him if Dye is the final piece of the puzzle.
  16. yes i can definitely confirm this (him not being liked in philly) To be fair, is there anybody that the Philly fans like? And not just the Phillies either, I'm talking any of their sports teams. Yeah, they even booed Mike Schmidt... And Santa, and Michael Irvin as he was being carted off after breaking his neck... they booed santa claus because he was hammered Didn't they throw batteries at him as well, or am I thinking of another situation?

And not just the Phillies either, I'm talking any of their sports teams. Yeah, they even booed Mike Schmidt... And Santa, and Michael Irvin as he was being carted off after breaking his neck... That's why I always say that after a business trip to Philly the best thing to come out of that city was my flight home.
  18. I'm not giving up any "elite" prospects for a half-season rental. Williams will need to lower his bar. However, I would consider EPatt if they're willing to take Jones. Then bring up Pie and sit him in the 8 spot.
  19. Not a good idea to bring a baby to the bleachers. Too many drunks.
  20. Well, maybe we can help them with that this weekend. . .
  21. Wait, let me get this straight. According to Perry, center field remains a trouble spot and Jason Kendall isn't a solution at catcher, BUT we don't have a need? yeahbuhwha?
  22. She has expressed in other threads that she prefers (and likely for employment's sake) to stay anonymous. And yet she throws out unsubstantiated bits of drivel with almost every post. Maybe she's Paul Sullivan's wife. OMG, IT'S LOIS LANE! Or Carol Slezak or Toni Gianetti from the Sun-Times. (only other two female sports reporters I could think of)
  23. I understand that, but at the same time there's an expected quality of work that underlies all reporters. By that rationale that he has to a report a certain way to provide "unbiased" Cubs coverage, wouldn't the Sox beat reporter have to provide glowing coverage of the Sox to show they're not beholden to the Cubs? (I'm not disagreeing with you, just stirring some dialogue).
