  1. Hit and run drivers should receive a mandatory jail sentence every time. If a person is killed as a result it should be deemed murder one. I have no sympathy or tolerance for hit and run drivers.I hope they throw the book at him.
  2. And here I thought it was Alyssa Milano trolling for a new pitcher to date.
  3. D-Lee's warning track power.
  4. Since they're baseball minded people, why can't the Herald trade Bruce to the Tribune for Paul Sullivan and cab fare to Arlington Heights?
  5. Without derailing this thread too much more, I remember that off-season being consumed with trading Sosa before addressing any other moves. The Mets kicked the tires of Sosa but nothing ever came of it. Hence the wasted offseason and getting nothing but Mike Fontenot to show for it. Oh well. It's fun to play what if...
  6. Ha! I agree. While the season could have ended up playing out completely differently, I remember vehemently wanting the Cubs to sign Pudge before that year. Hendry should have brought back Lofton for 2004 as well, even with Patterson coming off the injury. IIRC, Lofton settled for a backup role somewhere else anyway. Then again, I wanted to sign Jason Schmidt a few years ago, didn't mind the Juan Pierre acquisition, and wanted Girardi instead of Piniella (the jury is still out on that one), so who knows? He also should have signed Carlos Beltran. That would have been nice.
  7. Read the comments at the bottom. He has a "plus" arm. Gross.
  8. Could they theoretically just send him back to us?
  9. I'm tired of how he has an opinion for everything, and it tends to always be disparaging toward the other person/situation/piece of fruit/whatever. It does help that I don't understand everything he says though.
  10. This is getting out of hand. I can understand doing one "headlining" concert a year at Wrigley. I don't necessarily approve based on how the field gets torn up, but I get it. But Rascall Flats? Seriously? They're awful in ways that I can't describe with the written word.
  11. My first thought was that it would be Blago. Consider me relieved.
  12. oh STFU bud Well, it's not like he was commissioner of the sport when all this was happening and could have done something about it. Oh, wait a minute. . .
  13. I especially love when columnists contradict themselves in the same column: followed two paragraphs by Success by trading for short-term help, or success by playing draftees?
  14. I liked the historical aspect of Fenway, but overall thought it was a dump. The concourses are more narrow than Wrigley's with low overheads too. As previously mentioned the seats are really cramped. I'm 6' 180 lbs and it was a tight squeeze for me. I wouldn't do an obstructed view if that's all that is available. Yawkey Way was awesome. There's no denying that it would be a great addition to Wrigley if and when the Triangle Building goes up. One last tip, stay away from Fenway Franks. If you're used to Vienna Beef hots dogs, Fenway Franks will taste awful. That, and the bun is a slice of Texas toast.
  15. There are a couple billion people in the world starving. Don't you dare ever look for a raise at your job. You've been talking with my boss, haven't you?
  16. Isn't one of the knocks on Kent that he was lead-footed in his defense? Maybe that was just later in his career and I'm not remembering correctly.
  17. I have a legitimate question regarding baseball injuries. Who pays for the surgeries and rehab? Does that come from the team or the individual players? Moreover, do injured players have higher insurance premiums as a result? Or do they just pay out of pocket?
  18. And the street features only left-hand lanes But changes direction every year based on what the road seeemed to be lacking to make it into a highway.
  19. Campaign contribution to Blago.
  20. Disagree. It's the players responsibility to make sure what he's taking is legit. But if the supplement did not list an illegal substance and he did his due diligence prior to taking it, how is he supposed to know about it?
  21. I want to thank Dish Network for not placating its customers by giving them a channel that everyone else has and many want. Way to stick it to the man Dish Netwokr! :banghead:
  22. Her? Yeah, like the guy in the $3,000 suit is going to get traded to Cleveland... COME ON!
  23. Nobody deserves that kind of money, even if they rescue a burning school bus full of orphans. However, its not about deserving, its about supply and demand, and if teams are willing to pay that much money, players are going to demand it. I think a school bus full of burning orphans may disagree with you.
  24. For anyone still hopeful of getting this done, the problem with that analogy is neither the Yankees or Red Sox emerged with Santana in the end. When they walked away, they stayed away. Another key difference is that Santana didn't have a no-trade clause, which gave the Twins more bargaining power. They weren't forced to work with only certain teams as dictated by Santana.
