  1. Shoot, we can do this all day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyMwqHiD2dc
  2. Let's not diminish the fact that he's giving this rant while someone sits on the couch behind him. That's gotta be an awkward way to spend six minutes of you life.
  3. Lest we forget his season and a half with the Royals. Truly a legend was walking the field then.
  4. I wonder if they discuss what to get players for their wedding. Candlesticks are always a good choice. :D
  5. I should mention that the article says that there is a chance Canning can still make a stronger bid to show they are serious and get back in the race. I am guessing because of Selig's support for Canning, he should still be considered in the race. That said, I am really surprised their bid is that low. Maybe the group doesn't want it as much as we thought? I think that Canning put together a bid based on what the team and assorted faculties are worth, not how much Zell wants to sell them for. The important thing to remember in this process is that while MLB owners have to approve the owner, Zell is looking to maximize his profit. Hence why he was willing to seperate Wrigley from the Cubs.
  6. Historically, not long. Was it his wrist or arm that was broken? Hand I thought it was a broken finger? I could be remembering wrong, though. It was one of his metacarpal bones, which is kinda between the hand and the finger. It's basically the connector right around the knuckle.
  7. Hall of Famer and inventor of the save Jerome Holtzman passed away at 82 Story
  8. If he's that big a troublemaker, the Twins could trade him to us.
  9. [grabs some popcorn and gets ready to watch the fur fly] daske17 [/] :clapping:
  10. [-X I think he would be more concerned with an a-bomb from a-rod.
  11. Favorite all-time: Mike Fetters.
  12. Christopher, Walken agrees with, this, post.
  13. I'd like it better if it had the rest of the cast of Reaper, especially Ray Wise.

Hopefully, more great things are to come!
  15. Meh Sabathia threw 122 yesterday That just means that Sheets should throw 130 just to show up the new guy. Heck, make it 150.
  16. And somewhere in Chicago Ronnie Woo Woo sheds a single tear. . .
  17. There was a time not too long ago that I ate an entire bag of Oreos in one sitting. Granted the sugar content kept me awake all night, but it was sooooo worth it.
  18. Gordon Wittenmeyer begs to differ.
  19. With the way our staff has been pitching thus far, I have no problem with Harden not starting until after the All-Star Break. There's no use in running the risk of him getting injured right out of the gate. A healthy Harden is needed for the stretch run and postseason more than anything.
  20. You have to look at it objectively. The guy made 13 starts over the previous two years and pitched a total of 72 innings. What do you think the theme would be here if the Cardinals acquired Harden? "Yeah he's good when he's healthy but he's never healthy, he'll be on the DL within a month, etc..." When the Brewers acquired C.C. there was a lot of the "it's likely to be a wash because Sheets will get hurt anyways." And Sheets has a much better injury history than Harden. From our perspective it's a very good deal because of what we gave up and the possible reward. But it's fair to have a lot of skepticism over his health. I guess you all are right. It's just funny that before this trade, whenever talk of high-impact starting pitchers being traded it was Sabathia, Harden and Burnett. Then once Harden is traded the talk turns to, "He's a huge risk," etc. It just seems like a double standard. Either he's a high-impact starter or he's a question mark. But overall, I agree with everything everyone's said thus far.
  21. Is it just me or does it seem that the national media is not seeing this as the positive trade we are? The major online outlets and columnists that I've read are basically saying things along the line of "Harden isn't the saviour the Cubs will get, nor will he stay healthy." (generalization, of course) I'm certainly cautious based on Harden's injury history, but this is a much better trade than what I'm hearing nationally, right? Why the apathy for the Cubs when the Brewers are universally acclaimed?
  22. Which isn't saying much for either of them really.
  23. There's not currently one open in Monroe. And the closest is an hour away and they are only open at night. Not only that, but day-time strippers? Not a pretty picture.
  24. Then you have much more faith in Chicagoans than I do. Even anecdotal evidence from the series at the Cell this past weekend showed that Sox fans and Cubs fans can only get along for so long before punches are thrown (granted it is the Cell and booze was probably involved). Also, by the very nature of the series, both groups of fans will be around each other in a setting conducive to violence. All you need are a few instigators and a fight would break out eventually. Maybe saying 68-level violence was a bit of hyperbole, but I think it would still be high. As for the historical signifance: - Red Sox: seen as the Cubs historically as losers. - Yankees: won the most WS ever. Babe Ruth's called shot. - Tigers: last team the Cubs met in the WS.
  25. Yeah, but they started the parade at the Cell and wound its way north to LaSalle, eventually ending at Clark and Wacker. I can only speak for the little slice of land that I was caught in, but there were easily 300 people within an eight-foot radius of me. I'm not saying it's exact, but it is probable that they had that many throughout the route.
