  1. Because the dead horse hasn't been beaten quite enough, ESPN is producing an hour-long documentaryon Steve Bartman. I think the better question to answer would be: can Bartman forgive national media outlets that can't seem to let this go?
  2. ALEXIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
  3. While I'm far from a minor league expert, hasn't the team been getting better at drafting quality prospects? I have to imagine it takes time to weed out previous bad picks with good ones, so we're seeing them at the A level now while AAA is mostly filler. Am I right or just dreaming?
  4. I'm sure it would if Hendry had money to spend.
  5. ESPN doesnt seem to like the deal. Oakland/St. Louis = Cubs/Pittsburgh?
  6. He had some good years. Corey has the tools and the talent to beat Matthews best year but never pulled it together in seven full years in the majors.. Fixed.
  7. you're absolutely right. My bad No package with Wells or Rios as earlier reported? There's got to be more to that deal, I can't believe the muts turned that down straight up. As much as people hate Hendry here, I am very glad we don't have Omar Minaya. On a similar tangent, Steve Phillips was on Baseball Tonight Sunday night talking about the Mets trading for Halladay. He mentioned that the Mets have been risk-averse to trading high-end talent for pitching because of the Kazmir/Zambrano debacle. However, he made no allusion to the fact that he was the guy who made that deal. Dolt. Jim Duquette was GM at the time. And it's pretty widely-believed that the trade was pushed through by ownership.

  9. And I'm sure there's nothing like getting hog-tied and literally thrown into the back of a squad car... ah college memories...
  10. was it from Soto's personal stash?
  11. Doumit and Sanchez for Patton plz. :beg:
  12. Nope. But they'd probably give us Michael Barrett. Maybe he could recapture the magic . . . . ? At the very least, he should be better at predicting which fist Zambrano uses to throw the first punch.
  13. Lou just said in the post game that he could use Fox as a backup C. Um, Lou does know that Fox was moved to a new position because he wasn't a good catcher, right? Right?!
  14. Says the man with a career line of .269/.296/.416 As much as I loved him, which of the two was he doing? Cheating the game or protecting his average?
  15. The rest of the article is pretty interesting. It seems that Bradley has been having a difficult time adjusting to his new surroundings. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-27-cubs-milton-bradley-side-jun27,0,40471.story Check out the author. If Milton ever finally snaps, I hope that clueless hobbit is the first one he spikes in the face. How do we dress Sullivan up as a Gatorade machine?
  16. From what I remember, it wasn't an either/or proposition. Hendry wanted both, with Marquis being the fallback. Meche got more money and guaranteed years with KC.
  17. Yeah, I totally agree. This kind of stuff is for the fans who like the whole mythos of the Cubs that is born from the "Ya gotta believe" and "This is our year" mantras. I'll still watch it though. I haven't seen it, so I don't really know what it is about. But it does seem a bit strange that a movie was created to commemorate a season that ended so abruptly and disappointingly. I mean don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed last season. But ultimately the outcome was no better than the year before, when we also lost. From what I remember, this film was commissioned following the 2007 season. Obviously, there was no way of knowing how the Cubs would have done in 2008.
  18. Who's Mark Buerhle?
  19. LaRussa filed a frivolous lawsuit and got them to donate money to his charity rather than pay legal expenses to fight it. Not literally extortion' date=' but figuratively I see the point.[/quote] LaRussa filed a lawsuit. They settled out of court. That's not extortion. The extortion comment was a joke. I know how it works. I just think it's ridiculous that because Larussa was pissed off about this Twitter thing, he not only sued and settled for personal damages, but then got them to donate to his stupid charity.
  20. Isn't extortion a crime itself?
  21. Cindy Sandberg, is that you?
  22. Great. I did this at the beginning of the season against the Rockies. You'll need to grab a seat on the rooftop early though, as they don't have more than 30 or so to spare. But once you get the seat, you have a clear view from right field. The only part of the field you won't be able to see is deep center and left center. The food is good: burgers, hot dogs, italian beef, chili, sandwiches, etc. They have a few domestic beer and Corona, along with red and white wine. I highly recommend doing it if you have the means.
  23. I think the booing is more an extension of when those players were with the Cubs. 2005 and 2006 were awful years, and unfortunately for him, Jerry Hairston was on those teams, as was Rusch. Conversely, Maddux got a standing ovation the last time he pitched at Wrigley, as did Grace when he came back with the D-Backs. I would expect ovations for DeRosa and Woody when Cleveland comes to town.
  24. I don't know the laws in California but I am sure this waste of space will be in Jail for an awful long time. He did kill three people as of now with a fourth in the hospital. I'm pretty sure he's completely screwed. I assume he will likely be charged with something like depraved heart murder, which is essentially 2nd degree murder. It's at the very least vehicular manslaughter, but if he was drinking then it will be murder. CNN is reporting the driver will be charged with manslaughter, felony driving under the influence and hit-and-run. Charges could bumped up to second-degree murder.
  25. I watched the game and was into it last night but this is still what I'm most excited about. Cubs > Bears Root canal > Bears As the public relations coordinator for root canal specialists, I shake my fist at you viciously.
