  1. if every sports arena in the nation save one has it, I wouldn't deem it obnoxious. I'm all for keeping the ivy, grandstand, marquee and scoreboard intact but the rest of the park is a dump. Just because the team sells out every home game doesn't mean the park shouldn't be modernized.
  2. I would think that you would get more from a jumbotron because you could have multiple advertisers throughout the game and season, as opposed to uber-charging one advertiser for a full-season sign.
  3. Wrigley needs a jumbotron like the Cubs need another overpaid middle reliever. Yes, because we should remain in the early 20th century in terms of amenities. Every other park in the country has one and it doesn't detract from the game. If the Cubs are serious about enhancing revenue within the park, that's a pretty big way to do it. And really what's the downside? That spot already is just one giant ad. There aren't rooftop bleachers on that corner. If that Cubs set it back on the NE corner of Waveland and Seminary, there wouldn't even be problems with HRs flying onto the street.
  4. Part of me hopes this leads to a jumbotron in that space, especially since that's the one area around Wrigley that wouldn't block the rooftops.
  5. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/nov/19/Chicago-cubs-spring-training-naples-ricketts/ The Kennedy clan is everywhere. :D If that's the case, could we Crane to drive Soriano over the Chappaquiddick?
  6. Selig is a douche. I'm sure the spirit of competitive balance is what is keeping him from making that decision. It didn't seem to bother him in 2006 and 2007 when the game was played in NL parks.
  7. I'm surprised he didn't recommend signing three or four marginal OF and hope it sorts itself out.
  8. I wouldn't. Agreed. Wrigleyville and pretty much the entire Lakeview/Lincoln Park area is pretty lilly white and affluent.
  9. From what I've read online, the competition for 2014 is the new Twins stadium. But I can't see MLB not giving the game to Wrigley since they gave it to Fenway to celebrate its 100th and to Yankee Stadium to celebrate its closing.
  10. How do we get someone to take one for the team with Joe Morgan?
  11. And the author's reply:
  12. The Bagwell article was even more far-reaching. Basically, through six degrees of Jeff Bagwell everyone in MLB was using steroids through his dealer. Funny how Bagwell's name never came up in any of the investigations though. I sent the author an email asking if he had any evidence beyond conjecture to support his claims. I'll post with any updates.
  13. Quite a few leaps in logic and circumstantial evidence, not only in this article but also his Bagwell conspiracy. Interesting reading though.
  14. I was thinking more of the Sosa deal because Hendry has already put a spotlight that Bradley needs to go. And we know how much money the Cubs ate to get rid of Sosa.
  15. Luis Castillo weighs 145 lbs? Good lord, eat something man!
  16. Oh boy. Someone's going to have the door hit them in the face or fall down a staircase again...
  17. bingo Logic: failing the Cubs organization since 1908.
  18. Hmmm...I have an issue with this one....first base is wrong: I don't know how I forgot
  19. Or in Chuck Finley's case, your wife getting drunk and beating you!
  20. Harold Reynolds, Chris Berman, Steve Phillips, Mike Tirico... If I'm a sexual harassment attorney, I'm setting up an office directly outside Bristol's front gates.
  21. So you mean to tell me that if you were in line for a huge payday, you wouldn't want to minimize any risks you may have? He's been able to play through this injury, as you've said. Now, especially considering the next off-season chance he'll have for TJS is his contract year, he's not going to opt for it until his next contact. But fine, my post is wildly stupid. You win.
  22. Fixed. I don't get it. Edit - I do, but it's wildly stupid so I'm trying to passively get you to spell it out for me so I can respond to it specifically. If there are any complications from the Tommy John surgery that would affect his hitting, he wouldn't want to diminish his value before his current contract is up. I don't see why that's wildly stupid.
  23. Indeed. I just looked at the 2000 MVP vote and if any of those guys had those same numbers in 2009, there would be no question about receiving the MVP.
  24. I know that RBI aren't a great stat and all, but Sosa's 160 in 2001 still is impressive. Hell, his entire 2001 season is off the charts impressive!
