  1. Haven't we been seeing time-frames of 24-72 hours til the deal is done(talking in general) since the World Series? I don't think so. I feel like every report has more or less said nothing is on the horizon, a couple teams have expressed interest and Hendry is confident it will happen sometime. There has been a couple times where a 24-72 hr thing has been said.
  2. Yeah. Good point. Not really trouble, per se. I should have called it the First MLB Player to Do Something Stupid In The Offseason Award instead. I like how nobody is regarding Lincecum getting caught with an 8th and a pipe as getting in trouble, or doing something stupid. I agree and everything, especially since it was in Cali. Just thought I'd point that out. Huh? First, this happened before Lincecum got caught. Second, I can't remember which poster it was, but someone was quick to transfer the award to him.
  3. New Orleans was trying to choke it away, but Campbell made sure that didn't happen.
  4. That's why they're Washington.
  5. Gotta get to Dallas and NY, you know, the important markets. Oh, and I love having NFLRedZone.
  6. Briggs is probably out. Rams 22 Bears -7
  7. The Cubs probably can't provide anything in the way of starting pitching that the Phils want, but could a deal involving Toronto with Halladay going to the Phillies be worked out? Cubs Prospects + Phillies Prospects to Toronto Halladay + Fuld/Colvin/Whoever to Philly Victorino to Chicago? I know Philadelphia was interested in Halladay in the past, but I don't know if they would be willing to do it now. Probably not without Halladay signing an extension, especially since they would probably have to give up more to get Halladay.
  8. 1. So you wanted him to offer Gregg arbitration? 2. So you wanted to keep Miles? The real offseason hasn't really started yet, but dumping Heilman, Gregg, and Miles looks like addition by subtraction. As for Bradley, I'm sure it won't be pretty, but we'll have to wait and see. And whats the connection between these four players? They were all brought in by Hendry last year. Its one thing to allow a reliever to walk after he didn't perform the way to wanted, but to have to trade three players and allow a fourth to walk after signing and trading for them last year shows how incompetent you are. Its only made worse by the fact that he doesn't seem to be learning from his mistakes.
  9. Roethlisberger is out vs. the Ravens: http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/11/28/roethlisberger-out-vs-ravens/ Dennis Dixon (who was their third stringer) will start with Batch also out.
  10. According to the ESPN article alcohol has been ruled out as a factor.
  11. I went over to NFL.com to see if there was any news on Stafford's sholder but found only that the Lions' are saying that x-rays are negative. I did find this in the post game notes: Somebody forgot to remove a line from something they had written before the game ended. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2009112202/2009/REG11/browns@lions
  12. That's not his argument. He's arguing that PSU is more likely to be picked for the same reason KU went over Missouri. He's not arguing that PSU deserves it more, but that because of these outside factors, they are more likely to be picked. Iowa deserves it more, but he isn't arguing who deserves it more.
  13. Nah, this one will die really quickly. The Cubs aren't in a position to take on the money, don't want to give up the prospects for what is probably going to be a one year rental, and starting pitching is low on the list of needs. Granderson will probably be this year's Roberts.
  14. What monkey wrote this sentence? I think its pretty obvious that this part-time Naples resident and cofounder of Esmark, Inc., a Chicago based company, simply has the first name "Neither". Well, then its strange that Neither Bouchard was immediately available for comment but the article didn't include it.
  15. Thing is, if this allows Hendry to re-sign Harden, would you do this? Castillo & Harden, or just Millwood. That being said, I bet its Castillo or Millwood and no Harden no matter what.
  16. I was only using two years for the sake of the argument, since we seem to be focusing on Grabow's last two years. That and I could have included his horrible 2006. Here they are if you are wondering (Same order as above) 2005: 8.65 4.33 2.00 0.15 .183 1.11 .248 80.5 % 2.95 2006: 7.17 4.00 1.79 2.00 .296 1.63 .322 78.2 % 5.94 So what changed? He struck out less, gave up more hits (and a lot more home runs, 1 vs 12), and had his BABIP rise to more normal levels for him.
  17. Want to see something fun? Neal Cotts 2007-2008 before he "exploded" in 2009: K/9 BB/9 K/BB HR/9 AVG WHIP BABIP LOB% FIP 2007: 7.56 4.86 1.56 0.54 .242 1.44 .298 70.3 % 4.50 2008:10.85 3.28 3.31 1.77 .274 1.43 .350 80.6 % 4.45 Grabow's last two years: K/9 BB/9 K/BB HR/9 AVG WHIP BABIP LOB% FIP 2008:7.34 4.38 1.68 1.07 .219 1.28 .251 85.5 % 4.54 2009:7.09 4.98 1.43 0.62 .233 1.41 .279 78.6 % 4.20 Furthermore, both their Inherited Runners Stranded % for career is 26% with about the same amount of IR's (212 for Cotts, 235 for Grabow).
  18. I don't know if its a critism as much as Wood feels that Acosta's style was better for him. He's not saying that Rothschild is bad, just that he isn't the type of coach Wood works best under. Its more of a matter of preferrence for a certain style then it is a slight against Rothschild.
  19. I think this has Zero Chance of happening, have no idea what in the world the white sox can offer to entice the Padres. White Sox pretty much have Zero in their farm system other than the Hudson kid. I'm kind of confused by this report because I think this makes zero sense. On second thought, i guess it depends heavily on what the white sox are willin to give up. Although their prospects aren't that highly regarded, i can see the padres thinking about the white package if they included Viciedo, Hudson, Danks, Flowers, and maybe one or two more prospects. Though i highly doubt the RedSox let the White Sox win over Gonzalez without a fight so i think the RedSox will bid highly on him too. If the White Sox pick up Adrian, they would pretty much deplete their farm system. Why would the Angels do this? Why not go after Adrian in the first place? Or, if they don't have the players to get Gonzalez, go after Konerko without Gonzalez, which would probably cost less in players then sending AG to the WS, even if they are closer to MLB-ready, which is what the WS would want.
  20. Luckily there are ony 4-5 lefty starters on the 5 teams the Cubs play the most, and only 1 or two you could classify as good.
  21. I hate to see reports like this. Letting people know you are desperate, is generally not a good negotiating tactic. It's really not the huge deal that a lot of people think it is if Bradley isn't traded. I'm sure if he put his mind to it, if Hendry put his tiny mind to it and tried like hell to mend fences, Bradley would be fine in RF next year. But I'm not liking the "OMG WE'RE DESPERATE WE'LL TAKE ANYTHING PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASETAKEHIM!!" approach. That's the normal Hendry approach to getting rid of people he doesn't want, destroy all value.
  22. We have some pride. The reality is, Delwyn Young is not an everyday major league 2B. OK, this argument could be made about some other guys on the team too. But, allegedly, we have guys in the minors who realistically could make a push for those jobs this year. We have absolutely no one for the middle infield with more than a remote chance of being an everyday player this year. Ronny Cedeno says hi. 1) The implication was about players in the minors. 2) Cedeno is NOT a lock to be the starting SS next year. 3) The green text is sarcasm.
  23. I remember checking during the series when CubinNY posted and it was 10, so none.
  24. He didn't say "best", he said "one of the best." That doesn't mean he's above Beckham or Escobar.
  25. I was with you until the word lose. Then you completely lost me. I'm not sure what you mean. Both teams lost game 5 on the road before returning home for games 6 and 7. He means that the series ended after game 4 in 2003. He doesn't know what you mean by "lose."
