  1. This is good, I know the Cubs have a lot of this same tech. I do wonder how many teams have fallen behind in this arms race. Like I know the White Sox have, but is this something that is just widening the gap between the bottom feeders and the rest of the league, or is this an edge the Cubs have over e.g. the Brewers as well?
  2. In Seattle it should be noted I like Canha, so I'm curious if there's a red flag with him I'm overlooking or if he simply lost the game of musical chairs among the backup 1B types.
  3. I would suspect with how loaded Iowa is this team's going to continue racking up a bunch of Cactus league W's.
  4. Yeah. It's not impossible he gets the last bench spot as he'd be a better defensive CF than anyone currently in the running. But my guess is that this is in case, god forbid, PCA gets hurt and we have to push Alcantara into the starting CF role early.
  5. Brad Keller feels pretty firmly like the most interesting of the NRIs
  6. Probably bad. Caissie looks like a good player but trading Darvish at that point and getting nothing of substance for four+ years is a tough pill to swallow. Caissie's pretty much got to be star to salvage it IMO.
  7. - The Javy trade looks amazing - The Rizzo trade looks good and decent chance it turns out amazing as well - KB trade was a bust. Weird trajectory too where it looked sort of bad initially, looked good for a while, and has now totally flamed out - Kimbrel trade was disastrous, somehow for everyone involved
  8. Yeah his only shot is if he can live at like 98 as a reliever IMO.
  9. It's not just being in/out of uniform like I kind of wondered at the convention, Jordan Wicks has lost some weight.
  10. I could see it either way. Swanson batted 2nd down the stretch last year, but also makes plenty of sense 5th. Happ 1st and Tucker 4th feels pretty safe to assume, and Seiya will be either 2nd or 3rd. The young guys will clearly be 7/8/9 in some order. But I don't feel confident on Swanson/Hoerner/Busch.
  11. Also Comcast and all the Diamond networks settled I believe? Like I remember things with the Braves got pretty ugly for a bit there. I know Marquee's like a step sibling to those networks, but I kind of assumed when that all worked out that Comcast/Marquee would inevitably get it figured out.
  12. I wonder if that top 3, with Tucker at 4, will be the top of the order to start the year.
  13. I'm very annoyed that he's not pitching in front of Statcast. I tend to think a pretty big chunk of his future prospects is a lot more 93+ on the fastball and a lot less 91-.
  14. Sharma at one point said they were planning to trade him the winter of '22/'23 but when he had that gruesome winterball injury that obviously scuttled things.
  15. Tony Campana?
  16. 2 things: - Why are we concerned with Hoerner improving? Taking lateral steps is fine when you're already very good. Doubly so when you're also playing on a team friendly contract. - The Swanson stuff is, respectfully, very silly. Swanson was a +7 defender last year via DRS, +14 via Statcast, and +5 via BP's numbers. Actuarially there aren't a ton of 32+ year old shortstops, but actuarially if you're still elite at the position at 30 there's not a lot of reason to suspect youll have played yourself off the position before you're 32. I do actually tend to agree this is Hoerner's last year here. It's hard to ignore the smoke around him getting traded this past offseason. I think also the team needs to proactively move one or two of the guys set to hit FA after '26 over the next 12 months, and Hoerner's combo of talent/salary and lack of a NTC likely makes him among the easiest to trade.
  17. Oh that's just cruel
  18. Did Devin Williams end up holding onto his beard? I saw he still had it when he initially reported to camp, so I assume he already knew this was coming?
  19. It would be cool if one of the bat-only types from last year's draft like Brethowr or Alvararez popped off this year Also, just now as I just went to FG to look at what Brethowr did last year I discovered that they now have college stats!
  20. Jack Neely's mustache gives him some Henry Cavill in Mission Impossible
  21. Brad Keller's velo was WAY up
