  1. Hickory High won the state championship, who needs guys taller than 6' 2" to win in basketball.
  2. Don't know about y'all, but this totes puts me in the mood to put more money into the Ricketts' pockets.
  3. Maybe both of them suck?
  4. I'm less sentimental, yet still want to show a sense of something lost:

  6. otoh, the grift is on you if you think owners actually need or want to try to win, at all There are still plenty of fans who unironically laud the Ricketts for being a top 5 spender. Imagine falling for that; believing being one of (not even THE, mind you, but one of) the tallest midgets is worthy of praise. A select group of billionaires doing all that they can to impose self-rule to limit spending....but thinking they are swell for spending near the self-imposed restrictions. It's unreal to me.
  7. Hmm, Trump going back to FL after January 20, 2021 sounds fine to me.
  8. "You thugs need to protest non-violently and showing more respect!" "O.K.....we'll do....this...." [tweet] [/tweet] "NOOOO!!! Not like that! This isn't the time or place! Maybe you just should protest silently."
  9. He can use his men's rights organization to contest this loss
  10. Maybe Theo can Jedi mind trick some other GM into believing Almora is an elite defender, as plenty of Cubs fans I know have deluded themselves into believing.

  14. Stooge Rob Manfred must be real horsefeathering confident that the average fan is dumb enough to blame the players for this. He must've been spending time in Bleacher Nation comments section.
  15. Risk-taking job creators deserve such returns with no scrutiny. They'd much rather you just said thank you, and went on your way.
  16. Aramis Ramirez - that he was bagged-on by fucks like Kaplan made me love him even more Javy - simply the most exciting Cubs player I have ever watched; I have loved him since his "I can do whatever the horsefeathers I want" to the Angels bench during (I think) the spring of his first pro year.
  17. If you think massive asset appreciation doesn't tangibly/positively impact present-day "cash" position, or whatever one wants to call it, I don't know what to say. Every wealthy person I know would laugh at that proposition.

  19. I don't have to deal with work jerks at the office for the foreseeable future.
  20. Huh, this place still exists. I just assumed I got swept-up in a no-holds-barred Modzilla account banning sweep.
  21. Well, you're wrong again. If you knew people inside the game, you would know Preller has a bad reputation and many GMs and President of Baseball Ops with other teams were pissed and reluctant to do trades with him. Preller almost got fired over that latest scandal. Yeah, the team didn't get penalized that heavily, but people inside the game were very angry. Teams are very careful now when dealing with the Padres. Well, admittedly I'm not inside the game like you, but I am aware Preller took a reputational hit after that episode, something that again doesn't have obvious negative effects. My recollection is that he was never actually known as a "good guy" though perhaps my memory fails me here. "Almost fired" doesn't really count for me as a punshment, but I get opinions vary, in all sincerity.
  22. What happened to the Padres/Preller after the horsefeathers he pulled? Yep...not much. I seriously wouldn't be able to recall without looking up relevant articles. Their system seemingly has taken zero hits as a result of that episode, anyway. I know, not relevant, that tweet just made me recall that.
  23. True, but also, Albert has never been good. Hot start of '18 due to unsustainable BABIP, and '19 something like 10 of his HRs came during a 28 game stretch.
