  1. Doolittle, a known not-a-scumbag, being the first to indicate this is unsurprising. [tweet] [/tweet]

  3. If the Nats don't tear that contract up after this season and give him more money, they are jerks. The Lerners would be happy to defer $$ and make sure Davey gets $100 k/year until he's 80.
  4. I'm pretty much always in favor of labor over ownership IRL, but always in pro sports. If the Cubs lose a year of control, so be it. I'm cool with that short term pain if it can somehow contribute to structural change.
  5. Predictably, seeing lots of cries of "OUTRAGE CULTURE!" from the types of people you'd assume would utter such [expletive]. Anyway: [tweet] [/tweet]

  7. Joe Esperanto splitting time between being Cubs manager and Sec of Defense...not sure how that would work.
  8. One domestic abuser blows the save, another domestic abuser loses it. That's as close to karmic justice as we can get. I'll take it.
  9. Same. They will get $0 from me.

  12. Or they want to learn more efficient ways of covering up sexual abuse.

  14. Unless you're the fan of a player with unmeasurables underlying his "first ballot HOF'er!!!" narrative.
  15. Schildt had a similar "we don't start horsefeathers but we'll finish it" comment after Hamel's last start in StL where he barely clipped Yadi on a inside pitch. Maybe he's just deploying a "us against the world" appeal to his team. Or he's just easily excitable.
  16. As far as I'm concerned, we all lose no matter who wins the Cards/Braves series. horsefeathers the Braves fans and their tomahawk chop. horsefeathers like that actually makes the Cards advancing just a slight bit less unpalatable. I get it though, YMMV.
  17. I expect Ross to be the next guy, and whatever, that'd be just fine I suspect, but I continue to hope they get someone like Espada from the Astros. I admit I'm being reactionary about 2016 navel-gazing; nostalgia being something I'd rather leave to "I want it to be the 1950's again" baby boomers.

  19. I'll be happy with the not-Dodgers winning the WS this season. I just can't get myself to care about the Cardinals anymore.
  20. Also gives Sinclair a natural spokesman to be used on all the political commercials they'll be airing during games. Win win for them.

  22. We were just another Pirates series in Wrigley away from feeling especially aggrieved.
