  1. Wow you're being generous. 6 runs for the Cubs? We just used up 10 games worth of runs today. Literally.
  2. Wasn't the wind blowing out today also?
  3. Fortunately I won't have to watch this because I have to work tomorrow.
  4. And that's the key. When looking at the whole career of a player wins are not overrated because, like Roast said, it takes a great pitcher to keep getting 15-20 wins year after year.
  5. Those guys can't do any worse than the players we have been sending out for the last month.
  6. I think Ron Artest might have a little input on this topic.
  7. Does anybody over in the White Sox ever think about what they say, before the say it? Kenny Williams just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is an idiot. Sure, Kenny...MLB could have suspended MB the day after the INCIDENT, but MB would have still appeal the decision, which means...Barrett would have still play the game, your friggin, mental midget. Apparently, Williams believes in the "he's guilty because he is a Cub, so he shouldn't get an appeal" theory. Anybody else think....that the White Sox won the WS DESPITE Kenny Williams? Yes, they did, but that had more to do with the bad (or at least neutral) moves that he made than it did with his being a friggin moron, which he is. [major rant]Oh and what's this "with our luck" crap? Kenny, you just traded for a guy who hit 7 homers last year and for all we know could've been one of those token post-steroid guys, and now he's going to hit 60. Jose Contreras, at the age of 65, is having one of the greatest runs of pitching in history. Your bullpen pitchers are all having their 2nd straight career years. AJ Pierzynski is hitting 50 points above his career average. Your closer, a former bar-fight denizen, is now one of the best in the game. Everyone you trade away either hits under .200, has an ERA above 9, or runs headlong into iron fences anymore. Carlos Lee is the only recently removed former White Sox that is having any kind of success at the big league level that I can think of. I have personally never seen a home run hitter get as many gopher balls to hit as Paul Konerko does (this was the case before Thome got there). Everyone you play seems to forget how to execute, as in the last two years I have seen more blown scoring chances against your team than I have even seen out of the Cubs, and that is saying something, my friend. You want "with our luck"? Watch the Cubs for a while.[/major rant] Now, if Kenny had made a snide remark about the fact that the Cubs have no chance of beating the Tigers anyway, thereby screwing up the Sox' chances, this would have been somewhat humorous. [applause]Awesome rant.[/applause]
  8. Glavine has 283 and is currently 8-2 on the year. If the Mets continue to have a good team Glavine will have a chance if he pitches next year and doesn't get hurt. Even if he ends this year with a modest 15 wins that puts him at 290 going into next year. I think he gets it if he sticks around.
  9. Overall, I've been impressed with Marshall so far. He's had a couple rough starts, like any young pitcher will, but he's shown the ability to get out of jams. I would say he's going to have a bright future, but he's on the Cubs so we should take bets on how long it will be before his first DL trip. I have 3 months.
  10. But we know that will never happen under Dusty's watch.
  11. This thread was only 17 pages on premium? That's even more pathetic than the non-premium game thread. What does it cut out?
  12. Tom Glavine now has 283 wins and, on a Mets team seemingly on the rise, it appears that if he plays next year, he should get there. But will any other active players get there? The only active pitchers with 200+ wins are(excluding the 300+ game winners of course): Tom Glavine 283 Randy Johnson 269 Mike Mussina 230 David Wells 227 Jamie Moyer 207 Pedro Martinez 202 Curt Schilling 200
  13. Cincinnati is slipping. They have lost three in a row, 5 out of 7 and 10 out of 14. It was just a matter of time. Although, 7 out of their next 14 games are against the Cubs so the Reds could be on their way back up. EDIT: I changed the bold part. By "they could be on their way back up" I meant the Reds could be. Sorry if there was some confusion.
  14. Fly ball to center. Bay tagged up and the catcher dropped the ball when Bay ran over him at the plate. Pirates win 8-7. One step closer to fifth place for Pittsburgh.
  15. HAHA. Houston's pitcher just threw a wild pitch on an intentional walk.
  16. Barry Bonds, Matt Williams, Jeff Kent.
  17. So the Cubs can activate him whenever he is ready to pitch then?
  18. The previous short game thread was 30 pages.
  19. At least Marshall pitched fairly well today.
  20. So how many days has he spent on the DL then?
