Looks like the good old boys are still keeping Texas up there. It's good for them to keep Rutgers down too that way it doesn't look as impressive when Louisville beats them. Arkansas is still being robbed too. I was listening to ESPN Gameday yesterday and some goof ex coach admitted he voted Auburn 5 and Arkansas 14th. They asked why it was because he had Auburn winning the whole thing before the season started. They then asked why so far ahead even after Arkansas beat them by 17 in Auburn he said it was personal bias. He actually admitted this. Not facts but personal bias. I'm sick of fighting this type of good old boy networking every year in college football. Michigan struggles against a 3-7 team at home while Louisville beats the #4 team by 10 and yet the Big 10 team stays where they are. I GUARANTEE you if Louisville beat Ball State by that same amount they'd drop like a rock. Not to mention that Louisville would be getting ripped and everybody would say they aren't very good and don't deserve to play in the National Title game. Every sportswriter would say that was proof that the Big East is an inferior conference.

May I ask where the origin of this rant came from? It's actually pretty good-one harsher concluding sentence, and it might be Denny Green territory (not close to Jim Mora territory though) :D By the way, Boston College losing last night is bad news for those who wanted to see their team get a BCS at-large bid. Since the ACC winner is now going to even be further down in the BCS, they might stay behind Boise State. If Boise State stays ahead of the ACC winner, then they only need top 16 status to get a BCS bowl. So 2 of the likely 10 BCS teams are going to be either Wake Forest, Maryland, Georgia Tech from the ACC plus Boise State. Or all they need to be is top 12. If Boise runs the table they are almost a lock. Currently they are 14 in the BCS. Tennessee lost yesterday and are ranked 11th, Boise will jump them this week and probably be 13th. Rutgers is right in front of Boise at 13, if/when they lose Boise has their top 12. USC or Cal is going to lose 1 more because they play each other and USC/ND is going to lose one more because of the same thing. Wisconsin's win yesterday might jump then in front of Boise and it doesnt look like they will lose again this year. That might help prevent Boise but with the ND/USC/CAl scenarios still in place they might be top 12 even with Wisconsin ahead of them. I think that will be the case, but I'm not completely confident of that for a couple of reasons. 1)If Rutgers splits with WV/Louisville, they could very well stay ahead because they will probably actually go up in the polls because of the signature win. 2)Teams from behind-specifically Wisconsin, LSU, and Oklahoma-I think with strong finishes they could jump Boise State-they all got very good wins this week which will help them a great deal in both the polls and the computers. Don't be surprised if LSU makes a jump in the BCS to 12th or 13th. They were only 24th in the computers before this week-the win over Tennessee will vault them probably between 15 and 20, which combined with their good poll ranking will give them a significant jump. Those could offset the teams from ahead. I think that Boise State will get to the top 12 and stay there, but I'm not completely sure yet. I think Rutgers has to beat Louisville to have a chance solely because of when they play. Rutgers is ranked 14 in the coaches poll, thank you Warpticon, and if they lose to Louisville on Thursday, they will drop and a win over WVU wouldn't bump them up enough. But if they beat Louisville, they will jump up a lot and would probably be able to cope with a loss to WVU. Plus that would give them a shot at the Big East title (depending on the tiebreakers). If they lose to Louisville, UL wins the Big East.

Number 1 was so good, I can't wait for 2 :D ND sucks. Their fans are more whiny than Sanoma and they don't deserve to be in any BCS bowl game ever, no matter what their record because they don't play in a conference. If Notre Dame beats USC, they will get a BCS bowl and will deserve a BCS bowl. If they lose to USC then I think it depends on how many points they lose by. If it's a close game then they'll get credit since the game is at USC. But if ND gets hammered, which is a possibility, then they shouldn't get a BCS bowl.

I disagree. They are very balanced, but tend to give up some big plays. They have a great turnover margin, and a potent offense. I think they could go toe to toe with the big powers. they are consistently outgained and manage to win. I'd like to see them win but I don't think they are that good on the lines. Lynch is amazing though. You make a good point and they do live up to the stereotype of no defense all offense in the Pac 10. I would still like to see them in the Rose Bowl and will be pulling for them to make it.

Here's who West Virginia beat this year: Marshall Eastern Washington Maryland @East Carolina @Mississippi State Syracuse @UConn So you're telling me that Penn State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame aren't that good - in large part because of the quality of their competition this year - but you're giving WVU credit for being a really good team? Based on what? A home win over Maryland? That doesn't mean WVU isn't a good team. Texas played one good team last year in Ohio State and the rest of their schedule was horrible because the Big 12 stunk in 2005 but does that make them a bad team? Of course not. Obviously Texas was creaming their opponents and had Vince Young, but the fact is that they didn't play anybody last year but nobody questioned how good they were. I brought this up yesterday and I'll bring it up again. A lot of people instantly ripped WVU and UL for not playing defense in Thursday's game but very few people stopped to consider if maybe it was actually two extremely good offenses at work. Texas and USC combined for 79 points and 1130 yards in the National Title game last year but was that horrible defense? Of course not. Every single sportswriter referred to it somthing like the epic encounter of two historic offenses. Not one mention of potentially bad defenses. A lot of people have this notion that the Big East isn't very good and is an inferior conference. That's completely wrong. Some people will even argue that the Big East doesn't even deserve a BCS bid which is absurd. The Big East is a quality football conference that is rapidly improving. I think that Louisville deserves to be the #2 team in that nation right now over Michigan. Yes, but your determination that teams like Wisconsin, Penn State and Notre Dame are overrated, but WVU is legit, is completely arbitrary. If you're going to say that the ND and the Big Ten schools haven't beaten anyone, then you have to acknowledge that WV's schedule has been just as pathetic, if not moreso. Yes WVU's schedule is weak. But they returned the key components from last year's team, namely Steve Slaton and Pat White, which was a very good team. Notre Dame did the same thing. The problem was, some of Notre Dame's key components (re: the whole defense) aren't very good. Penn State was a senior-laden team last year and lost their key offensive players.

Wow. Anyone watching the Maryland-Clemson game? Maryland should have had a safety but they ruled the Clemson player down on the six inch line. Clemson runs on second down, doesn't get anything. Then on third and long from the six inch line, Clemson completes a 70 yard pass and run. Now Clemson is on the 15 yard line of Maryland.

Not surprising because it's the Yankees.
