  1. My favorite part of the 'interview' by far.
  2. But he's a clutch hitter.
  3. Except the football apparently.
  4. There are a lot of people who are fans of both teams. I do agree with this statement. Remember that Bonds hit one of the milestone HR's this year - not sure if it was tying or passing Ruth - in Oakland and got a good ovation.
  5. I think it's motha. I might be wrong though.
  6. This thread is hilarious. Although that may be because I'm drunk. I think I'll classify rjchapma as insane at this point. I think I'll reread it when I'm sober/hungover in the morning and get back to you. BEER ME!!
  7. WTF is wrong with you, Jim?
  8. I remember the Cubs passing on Jim Thome because Hee Seop Choi was waiting in the wings. Perhaps they remember that as well. I also remember a lot of fans up in arms when we traded Lee and gave up Hee Seop, claiming we just took on salary for what will one day be equal production at the same position. Uhh .... not quite. I obviously wasn't on this board when that happened but I was elated when the Cubs made that trade. I never thought Choi was that good and figured Lee would show a huge improvement in 2004 in coming to Chicago (I was a year off in that although I didn't see Lee being as good as he was in 2005).
  9. Thread title should be changed. Liriano likely to miss 2007 after elbow surgery Ouch for the Twins.
  10. Wow, talk about 4 games that I could give a crap about The Rose Bowl will be good either way. I would love to see either Florida or WVU against ND because they both have good offenses which is ND's weakness. The Orange Bowl would be so/so and that Fiesta Bowl matchup would be bad. The National Title game, which under your situation would be OSU/UM - UL would be entertaining as well. I disagree that ND's weakness is a good offense-I think it is just the opposite. The scary teams to me are the ones with a good defense, because anybody can score a bunch of points on ND. The question is-can the other team slow down ND's offense? The ones that have-GT, Michigan, Michigan State (for 2 1/2 quarters), and UCLA have given ND trouble. With that said, Florida would definitely be a harder game for ND. WVU-ND would be very entertaining, and would probably be much like the game last night (maybe without all the WVU fumbles). MSU most definitely does not have a good defense. They've given up like 80 points to Northwestern and Indiana the past two weeks. "Get Chris Smeland out of town. He is the single worst defensive coordinator ever born into this world." Had to steal that one from Mike Valenti and his MSU rant.
  11. It's like the stupid preseason polls during the season. I'm not saying the Big East is the best but it's just as good as any major conference. I was listening to Mike and Mike and they were saying since Miami and the others left everyone assumes the conference is weak and they just brush it off. It's like we have to wait for 4 to 5 years for them to prove they belong while IMO they already have. This conference has 2 losing teams out of 8 or 75% of the teams in it. No other conference can say that. I think almost everyone else on this board would disagree with this. The Big East is the most underrated of the six major conferences. They're definitely better than the ACC and they're likely better than the Big 12. That puts them 4th out of 6 at the worst. Saying the Big East is 4th out of 6 at worst is very different than saying that the Big East is just as good as any[/b] of the other major conferences. I didn't say they were actually the 4th best out of 6. I meant that after thinking about this for 2 seconds that I can come to the conclusion that they are in the top 4. Where in the top 4, well, I would have to think about that for a little while.

  13. Texas 41, USC 38. Does that score mean those two teams couldn't handle the "big boys"? Absolutely not because everybody said they both had great offenses. I realize it's a little different and I'm not saying the WVU and UL offenses are as good as 2005 USC and 2005 Texas but they both are good. WVU's is more of a gimmick offense but Louisville's offense is the real deal IMO.
  14. I agree completely. If Rutgers runs the table they should absolutely be in the National Title game for the exact reason you stated.

  16. As per Cot's - adding 2007 option ($7.5M player, $14M club) - $5.5M 2007 player option ($3M buyout) (increases by $1M each for 180, 190 & 200 IP in 2006) - $12M 2007 club option ($3M buyout) (increases by $2M with 180 IP in 2006) - performance bonuses may increase 2007 salary to $14M Based on that I would think that both the Mets and Glavine have options for 2007 but not for 2008.
  17. I think that depends on how badly the OSU/UM loser actually loses. If Louisville ends up undefeated, I think they'll end up in the National Title game. Rutgers? I'm not so sure but this will be moot when Louisville beats Rutgers next week.
  18. ESPN.com poll: Should an unbeaten Big East team play in the BCS Championship Game? Right now 58% say yes and 42% say no. The states in which a majority of the people said no are Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio is split 50-50. Hmm, I wonder why? For the record, my vote is yes. And I do realize that includes Rutgers.
  19. Louisville should move up to #3 in next week's BCS standings.
  20. Too bad Steve Slaton can't play defense.
  21. It's turning out to be exactly what people thought it would be. The 17 point lead might be a little bigger than expected, but each team's offense hasn't disappointed one bit.
  22. WVU marches right back down the field - with Steve Slaton - for a TD. WVU goes for two but couldn't take advantage of UL only having 10 men on the field as they fumble the snap. 37-27 Louisville.
  23. Punt return for a touchdown for Louisville and it's now 30-14. On the replay, horrible punt. The WVU coverage was all on one side of the field and the punt went to the other side of the field. The returner only had to beat one, maybe two players for the TD.
  24. 3 turnovers in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half, 2 by WVU and 1 by Louisville. Should be 23-14 Louisville following the review.
  25. I like Louisville's all black uniforms and the blackout the fans are doing.
