  1. Thin Rodriguez with a base hit to drive in another run. 3-0 Tigers.
  2. Casey again. EDIT: This coming after some wonderfully insightful questioning by Mark Mulder on the bench.
  3. Granderson with a double. He must not know what to do with himself seeing as he hasn't didn't have a hit in the World Series before this one.
  4. I love it Sean Casey.
  5. I would love to do a blog, but if I was going to do one it would have to be for all sports so count me out for that. With the new sportswriting job (and keeping my old bartending/managing restaurant job part time as well) I don't have a ton of free time anymore. I like the general blog idea though.
  6. Does he want us to throw in Zambrano as well just for kicks?
  7. You're joking right? So you would rather have Julian Tavarez pitching in the 9th rather than Papelbon? No, what he's saying is that if he's winning by 1 run in the bottom of the 8th, he'd rather bring in his closer to face the heart of the team's order, then save a worse reliever for a lesser part of the order and give us a chance to increase the lead. He's saying put your best relievers in the highest leverage situations. Sometimes that's in the 9th, sometimes it's the 7th. Like in the ALCS Game 4 when Ken Macha brought Huston Street in with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 7th. Yes, I realize it's not the best example because Street gave up the game winning HR to Magglio in the ninth but the A's might not have got to the bottom of the ninth if Macha didn't bring Street into the game in the seventh.
  8. But to be fair, Howry/Eyre performed admirably especially for their contracts. Eyre wasn't good, and he was terrible for his contract. You're looking at overall numbers. Eyre was pretty darn good until August when his physical fitness caught up with him. Once his back and hammy started bothering him, his delivery really changed. He wasn't finishing like he was. Dude needs to get in shape this offseason. And what makes you think that the same thing isn't going to happen again next year?
  9. I do agree that if ND was ranked ahead of Tennessee and Florida before last weekend then they should have been ranked ahead of them after last weekend. Well, I could see moving Florida up but Tennessee played the same type of game that ND did. That being said, Notre Dame shouldn't have been ranked ahead of either of those two in the first place.
  10. I'm not sure if I've said this before, but I hate the Cardinals.
  11. Ha, yeah. There's no way he's going to get a $20M per year contract.
  12. Like vance said, Jones has 10-5 rights so he can veto any trade. If he doesn't want to be traded, he won't be.
  13. Beane + Baker = HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  14. I like to answer my apartment phone with the line "Thank you for calling the offices of God, how may I direct your call?" I've had some entertaining conversations with that one.
  15. If you would have told me in April 2006 that Neifi Perez would be on the Tigers World Series roster I would have laughed in your face.
  16. Just focus on the BEARS. Season, playoffs, SuperBowl, ProBowl..... and suddenly, BAM!!. It's time for the pitchers and catchers to report !! Unfortunately for those of us who are fans of crappy NFL teams, we have to find something else to interest us. In my case, it's college football and then Mamba.
  17. :lmao: Quality.
  18. Congrats to Mark and his wife.
  19. Just figured I would drop in to say...GO TIGERS!!
  20. When considering trading for a player it doesn't matter what he once was. It matters what you think he's going to do in the future. And to quote myself from before, Just off the top of my head, I'll take Pujols, Howard, Cabrera, Hafner, Wright over ARod any day of the week. I realize that you have to take a players position into account as well but you must take age into account as well. Where would you play Pronk? 1B. If Ryan Howard can play 1B, Pronk can too. I think if he were a viable option, Cleveland would've given him more of a shot considering their lack of first basemen. He's in the AL. If you don't have to play him at 1B, why do it anyway?
  21. I'm not going to worry about Prior being/not being healthy until Jan 1, 2007 rolls around.

  23. I agree. You can't ignore 1/3 of a season (April and May), whether that is good or bad, just to make a point.
