  1. I don't feel that either belong in the HOF, but I'm curious as to how you can vote for Jack Morris while not voting for Tommy John. While Dawson and Murphy were very good players, I think they both fall a little short of being considered HOF-worthy. I agree. Jack Morris and his 105 ERA+ can stay out of the HOF. It's the Hall of Fame and not the Hall of Very Good. This is the problem with counting stats. A guy (somebody like Rafael Palmeiro) can be very good for a long time and rack up the counting stats but never be a great player. That player should not be in the HOF.
  2. I agree with those who have said Ripkin and Gwynn should, and will, get in.
  3. okay, i give up. who? That would be Albert Belle. And yes, he belongs. I'm torn on Belle. He really only played 10 full years but during many of those years he was very, very good.
  4. It is possible. It would take a blowout win over Arkansas, and then it would be up to the voters. I think Florida's struggles with inferior teams in late October into November has really hurt them though. They simply don't look like the same team they were earlier in the season. It's definitely possible but highly unlikely. Like CCP said they would have to blow out Arkansas and then hope the voters put them ahead of Michigan. With a blowout win they could jump Michigan in the computers but it wouldn't be by very much. Then it would be up to the voters who I don't think would put Florida ahead.
  5. I disagree, and Sosa, Bonds, and McGwire should all be DQ'd as well. You have to have respect for yourself and the game and all 4 have shown a consistent lack of it over there baseball lives imo. You can't ban a player for being accused of doing something. Palmeiro would be one thing because he tested positive. But the three you mentioned are fine especially Sosa. I don't like it, but they are because they haven't been caught (re: tested positive).
  6. No chaos. It would only make the 2 best teams meet in the NC game There's a difference between the two best and two most deserving. Michigan doesn't fit the latter. There the most deserving now. If it wasnt for some sort of mythical doesnt make any sense we dont want a rematch rule they would be #2. I have said though that USC will make it if they win out. I wouldnt argue against them becuase they played a real good non-conference schedule. However if they lose than Michigan most certainly deserves and is the best team in line to play OSU. I think the BCS got it right. USC is the second best team in the nation and is the most deserving of being ranked #2. They earned their way to this point. But, like you said, if somehow UCLA beats USC then Michigan, and not Florida (if they win the SEC title game), should be in the title game.
  7. :-s D'oh, DJAXX EDIT silly me Jon shortened his name and DJaxxFan changed his. The mods on this board are really trying to confuse us now... Anyone else going to change their names?
  8. I could see them beating the Vikings and Dallas (I believe that's who they play week 17) if Dallas has the #2 spot locked up and nothing more to gain or lose and therefore rest their starters. That's definitely going to be a factor with some teams (Chicago, Dallas, San Diego, Indianapolis). Not saying all of those teams will rest players but the possibility exists.

  10. Yes he should be in the HOF.
  11. #-o Note to self, read thread next time before posting.
  12. Yeah. This was one of the games I was worried about them winning. Right now I have to believe that Detroit is in the drivers seat for the #1 pick. Remaining opponents: Detroit (2-9): at New England, Minnesota, at Green Bay, Chicago, at Dallas Arizona (2-9): at St. Louis, Seattle, Denver, at San Francisco, at San Diego Oakland (2-9): Houston, at Cincinnati, St. Louis, Kansas City, at NY Jets Tampa Bay (3-8): at Pittsburgh, Atlanta, at Chicago, at Cleveland, Seattle Houston (3-8): at Oakland, Tennessee, at New England, Indianapolis, Cleveland Cleveland (3-8): Kansas City, at Pittsburgh, at Baltimore, Tampa Bay, at Houston A win by any of the teams currently with 3 wins likely takes them out of contention so they have no room for error. I can see Oakland's defense playing well enough and winning them a game or two like what happened against Pittsburgh. I can only hope that Aaron Brooks will screw it up.
  13. Thanks for the info. I forgot about this one.
  14. Boise and ND both look to be near-locks for BCS bowls. With Michigan already in the Rose Bowl/NC game, that leaves one spot for LSU, Florida (if they lose to Arkansas) or Louisville (if Rutgers beats WV). I'm guessing Florida loses to Arkansas and takes that final at-large slot, leaving Wisconsin vs LSU as the greatest non-BCS game of all time. Why would ND get an at-large over LSU who out-ranks them by five spots? Because they're Notre Dame and the bowls like them.
  15. Who did you go with as your other RB?
  16. Addai is running all over Philadelphia. He has 10 carries for 91 yards and 3 TD's already.
  17. What a one handed catch by Reggie Wayne. I think he got both feet in as well but the Eagles are challenging.
  18. Methodical march down the field by Indy. 7-0 Colts.
  19. I hope the Rose picks an SEC team for their other at large to play Michigan/USC.
  20. I thought LSU would jump the Badgers. Didn't think beating Pitt while WV losing to South Florida would let Louisville leap them though. Wisconsin drops 4 slots in the computers while idle. that's alot. c'mon STSU and Buffalo. help a brother out here man. What's Wisconsin's out of conference schedule next year? Washington State, UNLV, The Citadel and one TBA. Link it will more than likely be a MAC team. the usual MO is a Pac 10/Big 12 team/Big East team, a Mountain West or WAC team (not one or the other, I forget which conference UNLV and SDSU are in), a MAC team, and a total patsy. I think they stacked weak non conference schedule knowing Barry would be gone and wanting to give Beliema a good start. turned out to bite him in the ass. play an Oregon or Colorado like they used to and they are fourth or fifth in the BCS right now. I think every BCS team should play at least 2 BCS teams out of conference. I've always wanted to see something like they do in college basketball - an ACC/Big 10 challenge sort of thing.

UNLV and SDSU are in the Mountain West and yeah, if they would have scheduled somebody better they would be rated much higher. The computers killed Wisconsin this week. I look forward to their bowl game against an SEC team.
  22. Can you explain why he won't be around next year for those of us who don't follow the Bears as close as you do?

  24. New BCS standings 1. OSU 2. USC 3. Michigan 4. Florida 5. LSU 6. Louisville 7. Wisconsin 8. Boise State 9. Arkansas 10. Notre Dame Nothing too surprising here. USC is easily ahead of Michigan for second place.
  25. Thank you very much. I'll be here all day. Help is on it's way in 2007. Why does anyone think this guy is a good QB? Because he is? (I'm assuming you're talking about Quinn.) He played pretty damn good yesterday. His stats were ruined by about 7 drops of perfectly thrown balls, and he was jumping around avoiding sacks all game and still did nothing to lose the game. Not his fault the defense blows and his receivers crapped out in the biggest game of the year. No. I'm talking about Brooks... I don't give a damn about Quinn. Brooks = horrible. I don't know why anybody would think he's a good QB.
